Cruiserdrew:

My cousin just came back from flyfishing Alaska too. I was supposed to go with him, but because of a recent back injury it threw my schedule all out of whack. Will definitely have to head over there next year...although I don't own a .44 mag to scare off the bears.

I haven't been on much lately and still don't have pics to provide. Yesterday my client hooked 11 Steelhead and landed 3. Three more werer almost close enough to call landed. I ahve been chasing elk and guiding fly fishermen so much that I have not fished yet this season. Though I did rig a rod and cast a fly before I handed the rod to the client, and hooked a fish, OOP's. Gave it slack and handed it to the client quickly. "Look, I think you have a fish!"

I can't wait to go fishing my self.

Fishing here has sucked lately, been fishing the docks at night trying to get something going, but we've been fighting red tide, too warm water and too much fresh water intrusion from the everglades and way too much fishing pressure. Zero live bait to be found so we've been using plastics, bucktails whatever we've got and that's not working. So last nite one of the guys I fish with tried his fly rod. To fish docks with a fly rod (10wt) you gotta be surgical which he is, and still nothing even though the snook and snapper are stacked up under the lights. I'm almost ready to sell the boat, this shit has got to turn around soon, now I know how golfers feel....

Yeah, all of my ponds around here are really low. All I can seem to catch are small, 10" or so, largemouths. I need the rains to bring some more water and life back into the ponds.

I hear ya man.

Page 35? WTF nobody been fishing lately?

Took the ceremonial last ride around the lake today. Didn't catch sqaut.
Put the boat away for the season. Always a depressing day. Til next year.

My boats are all put away too. I left the canoe outside (it's just a piece of aluminum, I figure it an overwinter outside just fine) down by the lake so I can go for a quick paddle on sunny days, until the ice starts forming...

My kid believing a slow fishing day shouldn't be wasted....

btw, the next night he landed his first tarpon, 30 pounder. He was fishing off a seawall catching little mangrove snappers, messing around when this juvenile King gut swallowed the snapper he had on. Six jumps and 15 minutes later we pulled him in. No pics cause no camera, it was pretty dark anyways. Pretty cool night for him though...

snooze fishing is the ultimate gunkholing.
