gub thread

so a couple of first's for me today.
first purchase of december
first purchase in quite a few months actually , work's been slow and getting slower.

first wheel gun.so what if it's just a .38
first s&w so what if it's just a model 10
first online gub purchase, i feel as though i'm cheating on my local shop, everything thing i have came from him, this will go through him any how.
first time i had to wait a few days, ok, i'll have it thursday afternoon, but that's one hell of a wait for me.

might get my first "foreign" gub, he has a yugo sks.

was looking at one them fancy, high power .22(3) rifles too, can't bring myself to that though, dang things don't have one piece of wood on them:hillbilly

Just bought two gubs from the CMP.

2.29 million Springfield M1 Garand--This is a Christmas gift for my son
(Made Nov-Dec 1943!)

# still to be determined Springfield US Rifle .30 Cal M1 (Garand) for me as a project to supplement my previously received Garand which is too nice to need anything.

Is this a great country or what-assault weapons mailed right to your door!

um, i passed on the m1 he has.
kinda scratching my head now though, it's a springer, but i swear it had an 8mil serial, thinking now it was 800K.
milled trigger guard.
barrel is as sa 2/55 but the muzzle swallowed a korean m2 though. bore looked like it had a decent amount of surface rust too.
post wwII stock
5 bills

did'nt even pick up the 03a3....

5 hunski is too much for that one. The 6 digit receiver would be nice to have if the finish is original. Not likely with a 1955 barrel tho...

m1's pre-date assault weapons, they are simply "rifles".
the first assault weapon would probably be the mp-44. first kid on the block to fire a shorter rifle cartridge.

Andrew,

The M1 is not an "assault rife", it does not have a detachable magazine...

Nor is it selective fire.

Opps, Brian beat me to it...

I meant "Assault Rifle" in the broadest sense of the term.

The STG 44 is indeed the first true "Assault rifle". The AK47 was a rip-ff of that weapon.

Huh, I thought "assault rifle" was defined as something that had anything resembling a flash supressor, or pistol grips?

Ah, I was being flippant, simply pointing out the stupidity of those who write laws banning such rifles based on cosmetic appearance, and yet you have to go and make it truly educational for me.

Way to go Brian! Just today, I picked up a BW89 (H&K clone of the SP89). I'm probably done for the year as well. Pimp made me do it . . . .

And for the record, I love wheelguns too.

Neato.

Id pass on the Yugo. If you really want an sks, get a russian. Or for a shooter on a budget norinco. Theres a reason why its called a Yugo. It went through the factory with a crap magnet, so Yugo buy something else.

sshark, the Yugoslav SKS's are actually quite high quality. The only detriment is that they do NOT have chromed bores. Keep em clean like you're supposed to, shoot decent ammo and there is no problemo.
