I like 'em. I have a "compact", and I've shot many of the other models they make.
Kimber pistols seem to get a lot of attention these days. When Kimber first started making 1911's they were (without question) some of the best made... and lowest priced firearms around. After they caught on, the price jumped up considerably...and in recent years I've noticed a small lapse in quality. Still a very fine pistol though. IMO, Springfield is where Kimber used to be, and continues to put out a lot of pistol for the price. Many people completely forget about Kimber's fine line of rifles (where they started to begin with). __________________ Flintknapper: '97 Land Cruiser, Moonglow Pearl Chocolate Lab (Kota), I miss you. I used to have a springfield.....and while I agree that the quality was superb, its just not the same weapon. The springfield mil spec I had great accuracy, and was reliable from day 1. The slide was a little loose and the sights sucked. The trigger needed some work. None of that is major, the slide wasnt loose enough to effect function.....it was just annoying.
The kimber has been 100% reliable and is everything I wanted my springfield to be. I didnt pay any more for it than a springfield loaded and consider it to be a better weapon for the money. I think most of the problems Ive seen from Kimber lately have been from the standard side, not the custom shop. I wasnt around pistols much when Kimber was young.....so who knows. Your right...the rifles are superb. My uncle has one that is serial number 14....and its got the most beautiful wood stock Ive ever seen. |

So Sky-when you say "Custom Shop" do you mean the Kimber Custom II for instance? I've been considering one of those. I have not fired one, but real nice feel of quality in the gun store.

Yup, good 'ol "Para". My stainless P-13 gets more carry than any other pistol I own. Sometimes in the summer I'll carry my Kimber Compact, but for a small gun.. I actually like my Springfield Ultra Compact better. The Kimber has the best trigger (out of the box) though. I've shot a P-12, but not a "warthog" yet. Looks like you could fit two warthogs in a center console. But I guess they might fight! __________________ Flintknapper: '97 Land Cruiser, Moonglow Pearl Chocolate Lab (Kota), I miss you. The guns coming out of the Kimber Custom Shop are as good or better than most anything out there. I've been very pleased with it.

I tried for a good ten minutes......I just cant say it.
Well...the kimber has officially been broken in. Killed a coon with it at about 30 feet or so last night. One FMJ to the head. That light is PLENTY for anything your gonna do with a pistol.
