Are the autos the only ones that suck? I picked up a 3" Taurus Raging Judge revolver in stainless steel finish that shoots 454 Casull, 410, and .45LC rounds. While it is a bit ridiculous in size and power, it seems to be well made and shoots solid.
How is the trigger on the Taurus auto pistols? I've found a lot of cheaper lower end autos have sloppy triggers. For example the kel-tecs have have crazy long trigger pulls.
could be. i read quite a few reviews that mentioned FTE out-of-the-box but one that mentioned that he left the slider back over a 24 hr period to season the double coil spring. i've done that, hopefully it helps.
i have no complaints with my .357 mag wheel gun i've had for years:
I have both a TCP and a Taurus semi-auto 24/7 in .40. The TCP is a snappy little bugger. I'd recommend putting on the pinky mag extension to help with grip. But a great little BUG if you are conceal carrying in the summer. Its small and thin and conceals very easily.
The 24/7 does indeed have a loooong trigger pull. The guy at taurus said that becuase it has the second tap/pull feature (i.e. if you misfire when its in SA mode, it reverts to DA. In order to accomplish this the inner workings are set such that the initial SA trigger pull is long (I didn't really grill him on the exact mechanics of the trigger, and jsut took him at that). For me these were hand guns #1 & #2 ever purchased. I can't complain. Ya the trigger is long compared to a Springfield or H&K or etc... but its also 1/2 the cost. What I have noticed is that after a little practice, once you find the reset point on the trigger in SA mode it shoots very nicely and requires a low poundage trigger pull...but it definately takes getting used to.
Both seem to have soft firing pins....Atleast I think thats it. i can run 100 rounds of Winchester or Rem ammo flawlessly through either one...If I try to run the Russian stuff through them it'll be more like 5 misfires in every 50. I have had zero problem with FTF with the 24/7 with any ammo and only a couple stove pipes with the TCP...usually with the russian ammo.
ran about 50 rounds of practice ammo thru it today. no jams, perhaps seasoning the recoil spring did help.
i agree that the long trigger pull is annoying but i got used to it after a couple of clips.
other than that, it did fine. now if i could just hit the damn target but that's on me.
Believe it or not, that "seasoning" doesn't do anything. Springs only loosen up if they are repeatedly compressed and expanded. Leaving the slide open does nothing.
And not every single Taurus is crap- I don't think they'd be in business if everything they made would FTF all the time.
