So, what's the dealio?

My buddy calls the other night, we've known each other for almost 5 years now, and he asks if I'd be interested in a Beretta 92FS for $150. Tells me he's in on a deal with another guy he works with that's ordering around 40 of them, cash in advance. If he can't get them, which is a possibility, I get my money back.

My buddy was in on the last go round of Glock 19s that were ordered. $100 for Glock 19, 2 factory hi-cap mags, and plastic case, most (if not all) were supposed to be NIB. That one fell thru and he got his money back.

Any idea what the dealio is?

sounds like someone is collecting cash, promising something but with the intention of never following through...has this "deal" ever gone through?

From my buddy, yes, there was a big pile of Rem 870s being distributed a while back.

That's what I suspect. If it wasn't a good buddy, I'd be a whole lot more cautious. He explained to me that his co-worker's brother is affiliated with a contractor (similar to Blackwater), and they provide new arms to their people, and the used ones get distributed. Doesn't seem very cost effective to me, but I'm just a dumb redneck.

So, again.....anyone heard of this before?

Smells fishy.....

I'd tell him your skeptical about the deal and ask him if he feels brave enough to use his cash to order you one, you'll give him an extra $25 IF they show up.

I've seen Po-Po departments sell off their old or extra sidearms when they change models. Got me a S&W Model 27 Highway Patrolman model about 10 years ago on the cheap when the local Sheriff's Dept went to S&W semi-autos. Same thing, sold a huge lot of gubs and you had to "know somebody" to get in on the deal.
If, when the last deal that fell thru everybody got their money back, i say go for it. $150 ain't too bad for a new gub

He already had $700 tied up in the Glock thing, so I know he's willing.

I agree. I'm gonna do it. Only $150 this time. If it comes thru, maybe more next time.

I <3 gubs.

I wish I was...Actually I think I would trust your judgement on this one, but I've got too many irons in the fire right now.(Plus the wife specifically said no more shooters this year).

I wouldn't leave you hangin' either, I'd just send you some cash.

That's cool. I don't know if I'd be willing to go in for more than one until I have a positive experience, you know? I trust my buddy, but I don't know his buddy or his buddy's brother. We'll see how this one goes. If it works out, I'll be sharing if I can get in on more.

speaking of PD trade ins.......its looks like this weekend or the 1st of the week...I will get the actaull S&W 686 that the officer that arrested me in the mid 80's carried......HIS actull gun, just happen to come into my dealer as trades(been sitting at the PD for years) Officers got 1st chance to buy back their OWN guns at $190 each, I will pay a bit more....but there are 2 that have not been picked up.....1 of of them was his gun(name on tag)

I know kinda wierd to want or fall into the gun that a cop arrested you with....but hey......why not?

I'd want it, I think thats very cool (not that you were arrested, but what a unique thing to pass down through the family).

6"?, I've got the 8 3/8" and love it.

Could be a good deal, I have heard of a few of these.........usually you have to know somebody. I scored my Sig P225 through a group deal.........$260. If it looks good, let us know, I don't have any type of Beretta yet
