Just my luck
So I bought a Para Ord. P16-40 from sirenmoses here on the board for a really good price that we both agreed on. Thats not the problem, I wouldn't hesitate to buy something else from her.
Here is where my bad luck comes into play. I went by my gun shop to see if my gun had come in yet and he said no. Thats fine with me so far. Now we get to talking and I mention that I was, very close to buying the P10 he tried to sell me the last time, along with the CCW shoulder holster and a couple mags. He says, oh yeah well then you are going to love this. He goes to his gigantic gun safe and pulls out a black gun case. I'm think, "What could he have in there?" My first thought is he is breaking out the Colt Gold Cup he had mentioned he had, that was going to be an easy, "I can't afford that." He opens it up and it is THE exact Kimber 1911, in a .45 none-the-less for only a bit more than the PO P16-40 that I have on it's way to me. I told him once I get it in we would have to talk about trading. I bought the gun from SM 1 day before he took this gun in on a trade b/c it was too big for the guy to carry concealed. lunyou __________________ McCain/Palin '08 1968 FJ-40 - 4.3 Chevy V6 and 3 spd*PICS ADDED(JUNE 01, 2008) 1985 FJ-60 - SPEEDY -My DD settin' on 33s and a rusty frame -parting out 1986 FJ-60 - is now topless THE BUILD UP |

Never give up a gun to get a gun.
See if he'll put it on layaway and then work on making some extra cash. __________________ 1971 FJ40 w/ Chevy 350, Mark's of Australia bellhousing kit, 1979 4-spd transmission & transfer case, 12.50x33x15 tires. The reason I would give up the PO to get the Kimber is simple. Arguably better quality, and the caliber I wanted. I bought the PO b/c it was a good deal. I figured I would convert it over to .45 in the future.
Brian, my dad and I own evey gun we have ever purchased. I even own two shotguns, purchased at a church auction, that really have no use and will not be worth anything. I know exactly what you are saying when it comes to not giving up a gun. However I have never had the PO in my possesion and IMO it wouldn't be the same. I think I will bring the PO home with me and see how I like the .40 S&W. I might really enjoy it since he recoil "should" be less than that of a .45 and it will be in a .45 framed pistol making the recoil even less. lunyou __________________ McCain/Palin '08 1968 FJ-40 - 4.3 Chevy V6 and 3 spd*PICS ADDED(JUNE 01, 2008) 1985 FJ-60 - SPEEDY -My DD settin' on 33s and a rusty frame -parting out 1986 FJ-60 - is now topless THE BUILD UP |

The recoil of a 1911 is not harsh.

Well I went and picked up the Para I bought. Nice gun with a double stacked mag, making the grip slightly larger, but not too fat for my hands.
I asked him about the Kimber and he said he would take $100 difference. I almost took it. But I told him I was going to keep the Para and go shoot it tommorrow. If I end up not liking the fat grip or something about it then I will come back in and trade it. lunyou __________________ McCain/Palin '08 1968 FJ-40 - 4.3 Chevy V6 and 3 spd*PICS ADDED(JUNE 01, 2008) 1985 FJ-60 - SPEEDY -My DD settin' on 33s and a rusty frame -parting out 1986 FJ-60 - is now topless THE BUILD UP |
