It's official, Earle is dead.......

Found Earle a few minutes ago when I went to go feed the dogs.

I thought I smelled something dead near the corner of the house and went to investigate. I found Earle right in a spot that our Border Collie spends most of his day.

Apparently, he managed to catch Earle off guard.

Dog is on my major shit-list.

This will be my last post about Earle.

Damn,

I'm sorry to hear that. It sounded like things were going great the last time I checked in. You did a wonderful job trying to help him survive and the thread was touching to say the least.

As much as you seem to love animals, I am sure you will forgive the dog soon enough. I'm sure it was just acting out of instinct. I have a couple of dogs that would have done the same thing if given the chance. The squirrels around here actually torment my dogs on purpose. It gets them really wound up.

May cute little Earle RIP!

Best regards.

I'm really upset here Flint, but by no means as upset as how you must feel.

I will say in hindsight, like the way we raise and treat animals we love and nurture, you gave Earle as much as much love and respect as any little guy deserves.

The only upside is that you did the best a man could do and you should be proud and thankful of the time you, we and Earle had together.

That will never be forgotten.

Don't know why this upsets me so much, but it does.

You are a good man.

That is TERRIBLE news. Wow. That sucks. Sorry to hear. I think that dog just was acting on instinct. I think you should put up a squirrel feeder and get to know Earle's cousins. That would be another contribution to his kind.

Man, this blows.

Sorry to hear about Earle (I know Skillet will be--you could always tell he was devoted to The Big E's updates...like I said before fans from coast to coast)--these little critters....they're what makes us human.

Thanks Flint!
You've got a very big star in your crown as far as I'm concerned. Earle gave us all a valuable lesson in applied compassion and perseverance. We often assign human behavior to our pets. Yet, the dog did what dogs do and Earle was a squirrel. Pet that dog, he protected your space.

And... Thanks for demonstrating to us all, how to be good to the world.

Happy Trails! N

I found two half-dead, half-chewed baby pigeons on my deck and had to dispatch the poor little guys with the Beeman. You can't really blame the dog. I felt bad even though I hate the pigeons.

RIP Earle.
