What handgun should I purchase?

I currently have a .38 S&W that my father gave to me. However, I am looking to buy a new handgun so I have a nice carry before I turn 21. (I am 20).

Right now, I believe one of the best would be the Walther P99 .40 Caliber Quick-Action

The other would be a bigger gun...one that not many people own, but have heard it is a FANTASTIC gun, and extremly accurate.

The Baby Desert Eagle:
Which is by no means a "baby".

The other would be an H&K Compact in .45 which is a very good gun (clearly since it's H&K)

And now...here's the odd one..but I really think it's a cool gun and have heard some pretty good things about it, in fact, it just won the NRA 2008 "Golden Bulls Eye Award" it fires either .45 caliber, or .410 shot shells\slugs. Ideal for being car jacked since you just point it out the window and bam spread shot. Also useful on the trail in case of snakes, etc.
The Tarus Judge Revolver:

Out of these, what do you think? The lightest, smallest one of would be the Walther. This will be for carry\personal protection, open and concealed.

I've always been fond of Charter Arms Target Bulldog.

74440 Target Bulldog
Model: 74440
Finish: Stainless
Frame: Stainless steel
Grip: Full
Barrel length: 4"
Capacity: 5-shot
Caliber: .44 Special
Hammer: Standard
Weight: 23 oz.
Sugg Retail: $435.00
Charter Arms

This is one of my others, Glock

Taurus does however make a nice revolver. I'd be happy to pack around a Taurus.

FWIW, you might also ant to check out the Glock 19. It's a smaller version of the 17.

Sorry, I just added to your confusion. If I had to choose one from your list, I'd go with the Taurus.

Revolver fan? I love revolvers, but the one thing is safety, semi autos have better safety features (generally speaking). I'd have to shoot the Tarus to make my decision. With a .44, I'd be worried that IF I shot at someone that was threatening my life or attacking me, that even with a HP it would go through them.

Maybe I should just settle for bigger is better and pull out a gun that will make people wet their pants? Such as the famous DE .50 with bullets that cost 2$ a pop :-P

I'm going to check out the revolver you posted, is it on par with S&W revolvers? Glock is a cheap alternative, and they are made right next door to me, but I just hate the look...I'd have go with with the higher class version of Glock (aka K&K) Glock dosen't have the saftey features that I want. For instance the P99 has a strip on the back of the mag, you take that strip off, it will not fire. Lovely safety feature, not effective when carrying, but still a nice feature.

I have the H&K compact in 9mm. I have had a Sig, a Walther and love the H&K. In my case, my hand was too small for the Sig and I ended up pulling my shots.

The fact that hold 3 less rounds than others ain't going to be a problem.

So you're saying, you two are useless for a opinion on a hand gun? The only other forum (section) would be HUNTING AND FISHING, but I'm not hunting, or fishing with this hand gun.

Thx lovemylc, I keep hearing good things about the compact, I'm hoping to find a place in GA that will allow me to actually SHOOT it before I buy it (hopefully they have a demo)

I've got the 4410. It's a great/fun gun but I think there are a lot better carry pieces. It's kinda hefty.

I really like the P99, but for a carry gun, I would go with the compact P99. I have one in .40 and enjoy it thoroughly....

I like the HK. Not a big fan of the .40 caliber, it's not as big as the .45 and not as cheap as 9mm, so I don't see a purpose. With the price of ammo nowadays, I'm thikning about picking up a .22 just so I can afford to shoot it.

That taurus is pretty cool, but iI don't know how much the shot's spread at carjacking range. If you're gonna miss with a bullet, you're probably gonna miss period.

What model S&W? Is it a snubbie?

Ain't nuttin' wrong with a good wheel gub. The small snub nose and airweight revolvers are the shit for carrying and will never let you down when you need them.

I have an old model 36 S&W what I carry in a pocket holster, luv it!

Don't worry your thread got moved. "Hunting and Fishing" is the poorly named firearms forum.

I have the Baby Eagle in 9mm. It is a great weapon. I have had it since 1996 and it is a well made handgun, good weight. If I did not live in a 'may issue' state I would carry this pistol.

I would buy whichever one could do the most damage. Because we all know it's coming soon. You know.

Technically speaking, you would not want a heavy weapon, or heavy rounds. You would want a light weapon, with as many rounds as possible. If we are talking about zombies, .22 are light, accurate, and are known to ricochet in the brain...the last thing you want to be doing is carrying around a M60 .50 Caliber slugging along with a crowd of zombies slugging along after you. You want to be light and limber.

That's why the FN FiveseveN is my anti zombie weopon of choice. I just hope my rebate check gets here before it's too late.

I love those FNS....the 57 is one of my all time favorites, but ammo is almost non-existent. How do you like it? The penetration power behind it's custom bullet looks insane... (far right)

Every movie I have ever seen is wrong then, and every game I played . I thought we had a machine gun that looked almost identicle to the m60 (like the m249 Saw) that was a .50 Caliber? Either way.

Each of those choices have drastically different feel in your hand. Find the one which fits you the best.
