Beaver traps
We've got a couple of beaver traps here at work that are sitting in the elements--you know the type which are an "x" style in which to break them apart--I've always heard them called leg breakers...they do some serious neck breaking on critters though--I want to suggest to my boss that they be stored in a trash bag and lubed with say cooking oil---probably better than dousing them with PB or WD-40 so that no petroleum smell is left for when we use them again--what's everyone's thoughts?

Boil them in water, then add some parafin wax to water. It will seal the trap and make them scentless. I do this to my leghold traps every year. It should work for conibear traps.
