300 round break in.

Had a yearly competition with a friend for lunch and a case of beer. First time I ever f'ing lost. I will say that I let him use the broken in Kimber and I shot with a never fired Sig 220. I must say I still like the 1911 style. The Sig is a fine weapon but the 1911 fits my hand better and has a bit heavier pull. On the other hand the Sig is a bit heavier and has a really light pull in comparison the the Kimber.

The first photo is the first two mags the second photo is the last two mags after 300 rounds. Minus a couple flyers, that I'm sure was me, the group tightened right up.

We were shooting with target acquisition at one second intervals no sights @ 50 feet. Just another fun day at the range.

I didn't know the 220 came in a .22 cal. Thems some sweet holes.

I like the 1911 pistols as well. I have never owned or shot a Kimber, but owned a Colt Series 80 Gold Cup for quite a while. Are they pretty similar?

The Gold Cup would but a clip into a pie plate at 25 yards.

Man that hurt. The target is a 25 yard timed rapid fire pistol target. Should have mentioned that earlier. We took it to 50 feet. And you know very well it is .45 cal.

Both are based on the 1911 design. The Gold Cup 80 is a nice pistol but the 70 series was a better design and better built. I have a 70 series Gold Cup that my Father gave me long ago. I don't know how it shoots as it has never been fired! The Kimber I have is a Custom II and has all factory parts from Kimber. I have maybe a 1000 rounds through it and it is really tight. My competitor shot a tighter group on the same target than I did.

Any 1911 is a great gun in my opinion!

And since 80% of all home defense shootings are within 15 feet in the dark the pie plate test works just fine for center mass shots!

To quote my adversary... "Two lanes at the range, twenty five dollars, ammo and targets, one hundred twenty dollars, kickin your (he meant my) ass... PRICELESS!

First time in 12 years he beat me.

I can feel my southern roots itching to break free after all this gun talk. (that wasnt meant to be sexual either, filthy bastards!)

I want to go put holes in sh!t now. When are we going to the range this week???

Nice grouping, I can do that with my pellet gun at 15 ft. big deal!

The real question is did you hold the gun parrallel to the ground and say something cool like, "check yo-self foo!" if you didn't I feel it was a waste of ammo.

More like this... "Did you fire 6 shots or only 5? In all of this confusion, I’m not really sure myself. But being that this is a .44 Magnum – the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you have to ask yourself one question. Do you feel lucky? Well do ya punk?"
