Pig Hunting...

Well, it finally happened, some friends called me yesterday and said...

"Dude, we got permission to take you on "THE" ranch to hunt pig".

"THE" ranch is a private 50,000 acre piece of property in central California that is infested with pigs.

These two guys have had very strict permission to hunt deer, pig, turkey etc on the ranch for a couple of years but could not bring friends on.

They kept pushing for me and, though it is short notice, I am dropping all to go on this one. Meet the property owner and make nice for possible future permission.

7mm mag, 44 mag backup and three pig tags in my pocket.

Sorry Nat, panoche sounds fun but I cannot pass this one up.

I will take pics and post.

I concur.

However, I am waiting for the market to come down on that particular gun.

I use my S&W 9mm pistol and my remington 1100 shot gun using Sabot slugs. I put the sneak on the ones in my neighborhood.

Shoot a small one, the ones that weight less than 100lbs are the best eating. Anything bigger than that you have to deep pit since they are like eating pork jerky.

Skillet,

Good luck. Some of the best flesh I ever ate was smoked wild boar sliced thin. Yummmmm!

(If available)....anywhere from just behind the jaw to just in front of the shoulder is the "preferred" shot. There won't be any "trailing" to do, they just drop right there.

You can see why:

Good luck and have fun!

i am having a hard time understanding the true value of the gun....it ranges from $6 to $3.2 million. I think i need to get it appraised...

although, i think i'd let it go for $1200....or trade

No - the shotgub I won was a Benelli Nova Pump. I also have an older Beretta 20 gauge that my Dad won years ago.

Any interest in a Glock 23 (40 cal)?

EDIT: You could shoot the hell out of the Browning without guilt.

Just curious what you don't like about it?

I have 4 shotguns and, though my 20g o/u is now my favorite, I like the GH.

I have a browning 2000 12g (humpback) and a winchester 12g pump as well.

Funny thing is, the reason I have the gold hunter is because I bought a Rem 870 and it never worked right out of the box. I took it back and as a birthday present, my Pop chipped in the extra money for the GH as a replacement.

I don't dislike it. I just like plastic guns better. My Benelli SBE does everthing I need a shotgun to do for me. I only use it now.

I used to use it occasionally in the dove field or shooting clays. It's a great gun, and pretty light to boot.

I've owned 2 870's and both of them were flawless. I personally think the 870 is the best all around shot gun out there....especially for the money.

I've shot the browning GH and liked it but never fell in love with it.
