I have done some of my best hunting in flip flops and shorts.

It is the Santa Cruz in me.

We had a little incident on Saturday night.

We hit a boulder in the road and it bumped us off the side. We almost rolled down the 200 foot drop off.

Had to leave the rig overnight and come back with the rescue vehicle in the morning.

I pinched the seat fabric pretty good on that one.

The owners are humble guys too. Very nice. The old man started his career as a meat cutter and somehow built up as he bought land.

Now he spends most of his time on his 70' sport fisher in the Sea of Cortez.

No. However, he was not really trying.

I think someone stuck it on there and it just came along for the ride.

Both of those guys are fairly proficient with a bow.

Sounds like our hunting camp. We always have our bows with us no matter which season it is. Always makes for good competition to decide who will do the dishes.

It is off of Highway 41. About 15 miles east of where James Dean kicked the bucket.

West side of the highway.

Basically out in the middle of nowhere.

The place where we hunted was like 12 miles into the property. WAY off the grid and boardered by a huge piece of BLM.

Very cool.

Awesome pics and story. I've been out on a couple public land pig hunts, but thats a tough game to get lucky at, and the drive from SoCal doesnt make it any more fun.

I agree, central coast is beautiful country.

Yea, access is a great thing and I will respect it.

Not a lot of turkeys out there. We saw about 8. They won't shoot them in that area because bobcats and coyotes take a big toll. They will, however, shoot bobcats and coyotes.
