New fishing boat

With the cost of fuel going up, this may not be a bad thing:

Buy Aviva Fishin' Buddy Remote Control Boat

Although for offshore, a larger model would be needed.

That's funny.

I spent a lot of time as a kid running up and down inland salt river banks , off of the Potomac , crabbing and fishing. [ I come from a line of Chesapeake Watermen]

Of course , when I was very young I wasn't allowed to take a boat out on my own............

So I would always come up with schemes to catch more fish.

My best friend and I once used a BFing cooler to float out in. ...

I can remember specifically drawing up plans for exactly that idea !!

Mine had outriggers and everything though.

The only thing that stopped us was that we were afraid that we wouldn't have enough motor to get 'em in. [plus we couldn't afford a radio controlled boat ]

WTF happens when a 9 pound bass hits that lure.

well the page says catch fish up to 2 lbs. So I guess the 9 lb bass would take the boat under the water or dray it to wherever. And then when it tires out and the line hasn't broke then the boat would float to the top much like the bouys in JAWS and if the boat was still in radio range then it would be able to drag the heavy fish back to shore.

I read somewhere that the guys fishing the piers are using remote control boats now to run their shark setups further out, the ones furthest out are the ones that always seem to hook up the most, so there may be something to it.

Huh......That's actually a really good idea for pier and bank fisherman. I wonder what kind of break-away set up they're using. I can think of some ideas ,I just wonder whats actually being used.

See ! If I could have found some investers when I was a little kid , I might of been rich by now! LOL

I'm trying to remember, I think they attached a spinning rod to the boat and free lined it out, then I think they snatched it and it would release the setup, I'll see if I can find the article or show I saw it on.

We've been scheming this winter to try this on a 7 acre trout lake on a property that my buddy caretakes once the ice thaws. We've got a bigger boat, but the smallest trout is probably around 3 lbs.

I've been wondering this same thing. Since we don't give a hoot about the boat, it'll be interesting to see what goes down (probably the boat).

I'll have to catch some video of this...

We used to do this trolling a beetle spin. Worked pretty well except when I let my inexperienced podnah run the thing and get the props all twisted up. Matter of fact, I just saw the old RC boat in my dad's garage. May try it out next time at the lake.

I believe they said to use only two pound test line. It might serve to limit the possibility of the boat being dragged under, by breaking.

I wonder how legal that thing is.

I saw the ad on TV. Love the concept

when i was in new zealand one of the locals told me about using a potato gun to launch out their lines for surf casting, sounds a little dodgy, but would be fun to see done.

My potato gun has an effective range of 300 yards. If I could figure out how to work that into my fishing, it would be taken care of in a heartbeat...
