Sig 1911, Opinions?
Hey Fellas,
I got an idea in my head to purchase a Sig 1911. What are the pros/cons of this model and brand firearm compared to the Colts, Paras, Kimbers and Springfields? I know the Colts, Paras, Kimbers and Springfields have a good rep for being outstanding 1911s but would a Sig 1911 be considered in the same category for purchase of the above mentioned? Not on par or consider it golden? __________________ Randy 71 FJ40 81 HJ47 Troopie 82 BJ44 13B-T/H55/Cable Lockers 86 HJ61 VX 12H-T/Cable Lockers (Now my parts Cruiser) 92 LJ78(Sold) 96 FZJ80 Locked Coxwell-59th Alabama CSA |

Hi All:
"PacToy," first off - semper fi! Thanks for your service! ![]() On topic - WTF is a "SIG 1911?" Sig-Sauer is making a copy of the Colt-Browning M1911 design??? I do like the M1911A1 - I qualified with one in 1989 (?) ![]() I also like the P220 .45 - bought one some years ago after firing one magazine through a friend's P220! ![]() Can you explain at bit more? Regards, Alan |

Oh goodness, your embarrassing me. Your Welcome! Yeah, I guess so, the only available 1911 model 45acp pistol at the base hardware store is a Sig Sauer 1911 as the tag reads . I have no idea other than I'm pleased with how it felt in my hand and ease of manipulation I had over the controls of the pistol. I guess I'm looking for reliability and/or unforeseen problems with this brand 1911 model. __________________ Randy 71 FJ40 81 HJ47 Troopie 82 BJ44 13B-T/H55/Cable Lockers 86 HJ61 VX 12H-T/Cable Lockers (Now my parts Cruiser) 92 LJ78(Sold) 96 FZJ80 Locked Coxwell-59th Alabama CSA |

They only have one pistol at the mainside outdoor store? A couple years ago, they had about a dozen. I'd suggest going down to Ironsights--it is an indoor range on the north side of the 76, just a couple miles from the 5. They have about 50 different weapons you can play with, and when you find one that is comfortable, you can rent it and shoot it on the spot to see if you like it. IIRC, they have pretty decent rates for pistol and lane rental as well.

The Sig gun will make you gay Randy. It is the same as owning and wearing pink tights under your cammies, like you do. Victoria had one and it couldn't even hit bugs on the wall. She rightly threw it in a ditch and said that only blond morons would consider that a weapon. She then spat Redman juice on it and kicked it with her hello kitty boots.

I guess they have about 20 or so pistols and two racks of M1A SOCOMS and Mini14s. They only have one 1911 model 45 acp. And I'm not getting no damn Communistfornia ID to go out to Ironsights to buy a pistol. I will order what I want from the base hardware store, I was asking opinions on the Sig 1911 because I have become interested in purchasing it. __________________ Randy 71 FJ40 81 HJ47 Troopie 82 BJ44 13B-T/H55/Cable Lockers 86 HJ61 VX 12H-T/Cable Lockers (Now my parts Cruiser) 92 LJ78(Sold) 96 FZJ80 Locked Coxwell-59th Alabama CSA |

Well fuck, Dave, you don't have to air our love affair here in the Hunting and Fishing forum. You'll get us killed!!! Get that damn Redman out of Victoria's mouth! She is going to grow up to be a purdy little lady but I have no idea what the local populace is going to think of tobacky chewing purdy girl. They kind of freaked as I spit my tobacky in the pretty white snow at the Hiroshima ski resort. Makes me giggle every time I think about it though. If Victoria says turd then it must be a turd. __________________ Randy 71 FJ40 81 HJ47 Troopie 82 BJ44 13B-T/H55/Cable Lockers 86 HJ61 VX 12H-T/Cable Lockers (Now my parts Cruiser) 92 LJ78(Sold) 96 FZJ80 Locked Coxwell-59th Alabama CSA |

Looks like you are in the right price range...
Website says that many reviewed it as "best out-of-box" 1911 on the market with no MIP. Looks nice to me. I would not spit redman on it.

$1,008 is the For Sale price, tax free. If I feel the need to shoot, I can go out behind to the battalion CP and shoot the mountain during chow time. You might want to watch the video with Ted Jarrett. He is shooting 1000 rds of .45 in 10 and a half minutes useing a Para. The gun gets so hot he blisters his finger on the trigger. Only has 1 hang up at about 750 rds. Impresive indeed!

I love Sigs and plan on purchasing a 1911 model. Should be a great shooter.
Someday when I have a Kimber too, I will do a comparison

You can buy a New Kia for the price of a used Toyota.
Taurus makes a crappy gun. They are geared toward tards who know nothing about quality. __________________ Quote:

I don't think I was asking you but thanks for the input.
It was a simple question for people who actually know what they are talking about and obviously since you failed to answer the simple question, you don't know what you are talking about. lunyou __________________ 1968 FJ-40 - 4.3 Chevy V6 and 3 spd*PICS ADDED(JUNE 01, 2008) 1985 FJ-60 - SPEEDY -My DD settin' on 33s and a rusty frame -parting out 1986 FJ-60 - is now topless THE BUILD UP |

Seriously, start your own thread lunyou. Because of your off topic question, this thread has been derailed. Back on topic, A LE buddy has a Kimber 1911, and it is the sweetest shooting .45 that I have ever played with. Granted it is an 800 dollar pistol with about 1k in upgrades and custom work, but still.... If the Para likes you, go for it, I haven't heard anything bad about them, but I would go down to ironsights and shoot the para and the kimber back to back. __________________ No problem, I'll just tow the pig to Salt Lake on a UHAUL trailer...... 95 T100, beater edition 01 Sequoia Limited 02 Camry--Poor replacement for an 80 "A vehicle's capabilities are inseparably linked to the mental instability of the driver"

I guess I should go to Ironsights and shoot, eh? ![]() Fellas, I have shot the .45s mentioned (except the Sig) and I was happy with all of them, especially the Kimber. No, I didn't get to shoot them one after the other but over time and different places, yes. I was hoping to hear about the long term durability of the Sig 1911 and pros/cons as to such. __________________ Randy 71 FJ40 81 HJ47 Troopie 82 BJ44 13B-T/H55/Cable Lockers 86 HJ61 VX 12H-T/Cable Lockers (Now my parts Cruiser) 92 LJ78(Sold) 96 FZJ80 Locked Coxwell-59th Alabama CSA |

Yea, thanks for your help.
I was trying to post from my blackberry at LAX and the first one did not show up on my end for some reason. Mistakes will be made in this technological world we live in. Lighten up Agnes. I deleted them so as not to jack the thread. Back on topic... Buy the Sig. __________________ 1993 FZJ80 1973 FJ40 oh no you didn't "...mud is a hotbed of leftist chat/activity." - swank Last edited by Skillet; 02-28-08 at 07:51 PM. |
