I don't know when your spring season starts, but it's end of April here. I might be going to Maine at the beginning of May. You're almost guaranteed to get one up there.

I've hunted turkeys in Maine. It's great. There are lots of birds, and the hunting pressure is light.

We start March 15th.

I was northwest of Bangor in October, and there were fields full of them. I would say probably 100 birds in some. I've heard they may extend the seasons as they're becoming a nuisance.

You're such an idiot. I was living in Boston at the time, and I drove up to Maine.

You've driven somewhere before, haven't you?

I hunted right outside of Denmark, which is southwest of Bangor.

It's a trailer at a turkey farm.

Laguna Seca Business Park.

Off of higway 68 outside of Monterey city limits.

Just on the edge of Fort Ord.

No trailers within 20 miles.

Lots of wildland around here.

Mostly wild behind the office and there are a shit-pile of turkey.

One of those toms is going to meet his maker on a weekend during the season, you mark my words.

EDIT: couple shots from the desk when we moved in.

It is hard to get 10' windows in a trailer.

Don't be so defensive about your office trailer. It looks very nice. Is that plasti-glass or the real deal?

Actually, it is just a mural we commissioned to make us feel better.

The other side of that painting is a another double-wide.

My life is one big goddamn fantasy...

Here are some pics of the toms in heat with their bitches...

Also, a bobcat we had painted on the mural.

You desperately need a window that opens and a .22 with some subsonic rounds.

You do not even know how many times we discussed puting in a slider and paying for it out of our own pockets.

Problem lies with the animal loving, tree hugger who works for the winery downstairs.

She would have our balls on a platter if we off'ed one of her precious "critters".

That is why I mentioned doing it on a weekend.

Come Monday, all she will know is that we are one tom short of a happy flock.

Why would you shoot a turkey with a 22?

Headshot at close range. nice and quiet with a sub-sonic.

I have a nice pellet gun that would do the job too and I have a silencer on that.

Ask NorCalDoug to take care of her. He apparently solves problems...

A lever action is best for sub sonic rounds. With auto's you have to cycle by hand.

The best all around hunting experiences I've had came from Turkey hunting. All the scouting, calling, concealment just leads about to about the most intense 5 minute rush when old Mr. Tom comes a chargin' through the field or brush lookin' for his hen. Ka-boooom! My morning is done. Time to light the cigar and relax.

Did I mention I love Turkey hunting?

WOW......March 15th...Youre lucky......

By the time our season started last year , most of the court'n was over. Too late....[I was scouting pre season]..[global warming ]

I killed one , opening day , after that, all the gobblers were henned up.... we got a lot of responses to calling ,....[and we hunted hard , in a lot of different places].... , but they wouldn't leave , what they already had.
