I have this.

Nearly as powerful as a .22 LR but even louder so I have a supressor.

They also come in .25 and 9mm. Very effective.

Federal Premiere is the shell I'm currently using (takes a while to get through a box, though I did shoot a turkey four times last year).

35 yards or so. It was a busted flock. I picked a red head and shot. Knocked it down, but it hopped back up and started running. Bang. Flop. Up again and running. Bang. Now that I think about it, it was only three shots, which is all I had. Then the turkey started to get back up, and I jumped on it and choked it to death with my bare hands while looking directly into its eyes and muttering "not this time mother fucker" to it as it died.

I love turkey hunting.

I hate turkeys.

Did you use the dead baby jokes? I'm sure those just about killed him.

Great story. A few hundred more of those type of encounters and you've got a start to a best seller.

That was a pretty lame edit on your part.

Yeah, I will probably write a book about my turkey misadventures at some point, once I've hunted enough to drive myself even more batshit insane.

How long of a barrel do you have on your guns? I've got a big long motherfucker, but it doesn't have a full choke in it. I think it is a modified. I use it mostly for skeet and for coyotes at night, err, I mean before dusk.

baby steps.. It appears that the state of California slips all types of crazy shit laws under your noses. They brag about being the first state to "allow" BB gun hunting, like it's a good thing? wtf... what ever.. have fun killing everything twice.... then breaking it's neck to put it out of it's misery..

No one's bragging about it. The regs just state you're allowed to use shotgun, >-.20 pellet or archery. I don't think it's creeping incrementalism in this case.

Coyotes can be shot at any time (day or night) in SC.

EDIT: You can't use lights unless you have dogs.

I guess technically that would be a violation unless the coyote was "cornered" by your dog.

I have given up deer hunting. It got boring. Turkey hunting sounds fun. Lots of them up here. I need to figure out a way to attract a flock to my property...are there turkey feeders available that deer won't empty? I read somewhere about building a platform 8 feet high to put the feeder on so the turkeys could fly up to it but the deer can't get at it...

Careful about feeding turkeys. Your laws may vary, but hunting anywhere near bait is a huge no-no for turkey hunting in SC.

Michigan rule...

Baiting Prohibited
It is unlawful to make use of bait to aid in the taking of a wild turkey. For the purpose of this regulation, "bait" means a substance composed of grain, fruit, vegetables or other food placed to lure or entice wild turkeys. This does not apply to standing farm crops (normal agricultural practices) or other natural growing grains, fruits or vegetables.

EDIT: Also only (1) gobbler in the spring season. Michigan has a fall and spring season. You can take one of either sex in the fall season. That kinda sucks if you take one early.

Yes, but supplemental feeding, and/or using bait as an
