07/08 Hunting pic thread,How was your year?

Just thought I would add a little more huntin' to the "Hunting and Fishing section" ......................lets see some pics.

Everybody loves pictures .........

Trophys, or just good memories/experiences, or nice pictures of where you hunt.

I'll start.....................

I got my first bear with a bow this year. Not all that big,[200#w/17 3/4 in. skull]...... but I did it the old fashioned way. No guide, no bait, no dogs, no gun, lotta luck. [not that there is any thing wrong w/ those.]
Youre looking at a happy bow hunter.

Thats rain BTW , not sweat . My wife says it "looks gross" It started to drizzle right after I made the shot , made for a pretty difficult tracking job. If the shot looks a little far forward...thats the 1/4 away exit.

Cottontails,Beagles,good friends,good times........

Had a pretty good rabbit hunt today. I wish I would have taken more pictures, but there was so much action, that I had a hard time putting the shotgun down to pull out the camera.

Watching the beagles work this property is a thing of beauty!
[excuse the hazey pics, bad lighting...it was actually a very clear day.]

Couple more................ I took this 8 point the last day of muzzleloader season.
I've had a couple of close calls with bigger bucks during bow and muzzleloader, but could'nt seal the deal.

I had a hot doe come past at first light with her tongue hanging out.......about 15 minutes later, hear comes this guy,hot on her trail. He was moving pretty fast through the trees, with his nose to the ground.

Luckily, when he heard me bleat,he stopped dead in his tracks, and gave me a good shot.

It looks like it was a good season in VA!! After turkey hunting for close to 15 years, I finally killed a double bearded bird. 9in. and 11in.

Nice bird!!! Where do you hunt?

I'm really looking forward to spring gobbler season this year. Although I've taken a few birds in the fall while deer hunting, last spring was the first time I've actually called one in.

It really gets the adrenaline flowing! Plus they're awsome on the grill!!

My pic

I have posted this pic on a couple different threads. Sorry if you've seen it before.

This is my Thanksgiving 07 mulie. It was my first mule deer. We had a good week. No women folk, just the boys. Lots of beer, meat and fried foods.

LOL, naw, you're just late coming to the party. Most of us are done hunting in Oct/Nov for big game and have already posted up in our own threads. Do a search for hunting and you'll get a lot. Here's mine from this year....

Here are some of the bucks taken off of my place this year (all in one weekend, too).

Edit: make that one. The others are too big. I'll resize them later.

This is the smallest one.

I guess I kinda figured as much.....

Our Whitetail season , doesn't end until about the first week in Jan.

In my life there are basically 2 seasons...Hunting and Wheeling/fishing.

By the time deers season ends , I'm usually somewhat burned out from hunting HARD......

Around this time , wheeling season begins , and I start lurking more and more on 'Mud.......

Then the huntin' bug hits me again....as there is a lull , waiting on spring gobbler........

I just needed my huntin' "fix" !!

Nuthin wrong with that. Up here, we go from fire season, to wheeling, to big game hunting, to wheeling, to turkey, to wheeling, to fire........

Of course, varmint hunting is year round, so that doesn't figure into the above equation.

Had another good day , chasing cottontail.

And yes , that's my "happy face "

edit: I was wearing an orange hat while I was hunting.

Kinda cool....we've only hunted this property twice.......The land owner wanted our thoughts on releasing game birds [he has almost perfect habitat already !]........We saw a , no doubt , wild quail today ! I think by next year he will start releasing birds , and planting food plots.
