I guess what I really need to do is determine my method of carry.... waistband, pocket, etc. I am pretty sure I want a .40 or slightly bigger. I do shoot a fair amount, enough that I feel I won't be playing all my cards with one shot of accuracy. You all have had some great input, and given me some makes/ models to look into that I had not considered. I will update you when I have narrowed my choices.

You are going or have received a ton of info from all of us on here. Here is my advice that will more than likely have been covered by others.

1. Go to indoor range that rents handguns. Shoot a plethora of subcompact and compact 40 SW. I would stick to that because of winter clothing in VA during the winter. If you lived in the tropics of S Florida like I do, then you can get away with a 380 or a J Frame 38 Spl.

2. What kind of work do you do, if you have to wear tucked in shirts and stuff, you will have to find alternative holsters for concealed carry.
