| Hunting season is here. Well hunting season is here, and I am forced to skip hunting camp due to my wife expecting our third at that time. Upland and Waterfowl seasons are going to be my only salvation.
Who has been out this year and who has been successful? |

| You should have planned the birth better. My whole annual calendar revolves around hunting. I even have a magnet on the fridge that says " we interrupt this marriage to bring you the hunting season" Good luck on the kid

Oh well, one hunting season traded for a lifetime of joy.
What really sucks is that I am without a good hunting dog. My 14 year old lab is retired, and my 9 year old lab is losing his already minimal skills. I sure do miss my older dog in the field, she was a beast. |

My eight month old (lab) has done surprisingly well. He still needs to learn how to use his nose better. That is his trainer's fault (me), though. It's funny the look that he gives me when he sees a bird, and I shoot and miss. He looks at me like he is saying "way to go, jackass." |

My older dog always had that look. She would see me miss (Often), look at me, sigh, and continue to hunt.
Now that I think about it, I really hate that dog. |

| I scheduled my Idaho elk trip for October 6-22. I hunt deer out my back yard. I also drew elk and deer tags in Montana, so I'll be running over there quite a bit. I've dusted a few grouse this year and will be getting more.
PS- I'll be in Boise in Feb, we'll have to drink a few.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!

Are you talking about upland hunting? Your lab would do that ok? We do the lazy hunting here. Sit in the field, and wait for the birds to fly by.
I have noticed that when Kane is sniffing for a downed bird, he will stop and point some times. Not really what you want him to do in a dove field, though. |

She was a pheasant and quail machine. She also did the same in the blind. She usually saw the birds before us and was always pissed when we would miss. |

| Just got back from an elk black powder season in northern colorado. Usually it times up great with the rut. But due to the warm weather, our camp only saw a few mullies and elk that were too far too shoot.
We did have three bull moose enter our camp. We started using game calls on them. One smaller male mounted the largest one and they fought a little bit. Then they started peeing everywhere. It was funny. I have a pic somewhere.
We are headed up for rifle in october, maybe we will have better luck.

| Been out a number of times with the bow. Concentrating on elk so I've turned down the many deer I've seen. Saturday was the most snow I've ever hunted in this early in the year!
