Im all for KY area wheeling.

That would work well for Washita/Flat Nasty. I was just thinking of the weather and drive home aspects, weather being we would know what to expect having been to Flat Nasty first. There I go thinking again. Flat Nasty does have the cabin for comfort at the end of the week though which would be nice.
If Vicky doesn't get layed off completely we will be in way better shape $ wise next year. That's why I say KY/TN is not out of the question.

remember last year was "very hot by MO standards"....
The cabin is cool, and is a plus. But I will be camping.

My .02 worth is for the FlatNasty & Washita trip again...I mean we already know where the wall-marts are & all...I really liked FlatNasty & want to wheel it with my own rig this time...Drunk wheelin DBJimmys rig was ok too. I know we already been there but that don't mean we can't go back...
The more I sits & thinks I would like to not have to drive so far...at least not this next trip....I'm still a bit financially challenged & would hate to spend so much on fuel.

As far as the KY thing.....I always keep a tube in my 60. I've been married a long time & don't get much action....So I like being prepared...You know they say chance favors the prepared...& I wanna be prepared in case there's a chance.....

I think John may be used to feeling a scruffy beard rubbing on the back of his shoulders. I think that's why he's so angry. He just doesn't feel it as often as he'd like.

I must admit I'm liking the idea of staying a little closer to home than the Dakotas, that would be a 20+ hour drive for me, I want to do it but this just may not be the year money wise.
Anywhere in eastern KY or Tenn. is fine with me.
But I have never been to Flat Nasty and have wanted to go for years.
Again I leave the choice of where up to you guys, you've been there you've done that, if the two places can fill a week than lets do it.
Also I feel June might be a little cooler than July.

I agree June is better, lets shoot for the 1st or 2nd week in June.
I think the days could work well in one week.
Saturday: Travel to Washita (closer for everyone than flat nasty)
Sunday: Wheel Washita
Monday: Wheel Washita (or head to Flat Nasty if we want)
Tuesday: Break down camp. Head to Flat nasty (only a couple hours), set up camp...
Wed: Wheel Flat nasty
Thurs :Wheel Flat Nasty
Fri: Wheel flat nasty
Sat: Wheel a bit and maybe head back, Last year I liked breaking up the return travel into 2 days.
Sun: Travel Home
With such a relaxed week can take our time, sleep in, stay up late, night wheel , or hit a movie again

X2
I can go any time in June. The earlier, the cooler.
I'm glad nobody mentioned SMORR.
We could wheel 2 days easy at Washita, we got cut a day short this year cuz of the rain. One day to the top of the mountain (great run!) and a second day hitting trails we missed.
At Flat Nasty I'll bet we only saw half the park. Then there is the bonus.....camping at Flat Nasty, wheelin camping in the midwest can't get much better than that.

I am going to have to ask this, but is this friendly for a bone stock FJ40? If I can I would try to get some 33" tires, a rear locker, as well as a couple other things, but in case I can't, is this something a stock 40 can do? Also, would my roof rack get ripped off, or would I just have to be careful? I'm looking forward to this very much so, and it would be anti-climactic if I drove my Buick around and had truck hop like I've been doing. Not that I don't mind it, but I want my own truck for this.

depends more on the driver. If you are an experienced driver, you should have no problem. Same with the roof rack. But as always, I suggest no roof rack ever other than if it is 100% necessary for hauling gear. Other wise, yes it will hook trees, walls, and a shit ton of wind on the highway!
But I cant say that any of the trails we did last year were that hard.

Both Washita and Flat Nasty seemed to have bypasses for everything, but you may have to separate from the group a little and catch up. x2 on the roof rack coming off. There may be some trails that you will want to park and ride, but that's more up to each individual's comfort level.
I think the 2nd week of June might be best so that there is a little separation from the Memorial Day holiday. It's not really a big deal for me, but just a thought. I am stoked about going back to Flat Nasty if that is what we decide. I think we missed a lot of trails there, and I really enjoyed the camping even if it was "Africa hot". Washita would also be cool to explore for another day or so since we missed a lot there too. SMORR on the other hand I wouldn't waste the extra gas to go there again. It's not a bad park, just not worth the extra mileage or time.
I wonder if we could bring fireworks to Flat Nasty?
Clint

Im sure the rules prohibit it....but we will be there during the week and will likely have the entire park to ourselves again, so he might just turn a cheek.....

Flat Nasty has plenty for you to do with a stock 40. A rear locker and 33's would get you through plenty of the moderate trails. I enjoyed the stock trails there as well, they would be great for a lazy day. The trails there are more open and the entrance to each trail dictates wether or not you are capible of the doing the trail so you don't get stuck on something you can't get out of. It was very good planning on the owners part. Washita has plenty for you to do as well.
Oh, by the way, hell yes to Washita/FlatNasty NO SMORR! 2nd week of June sounds great.
My place would be open for camping to split up the ride home. There would be plenty of room to park all vehicles and trailers in my yard as long as it is dry. Albers, Il is a mile south of us and 4 miles north of I64. Vicky said it's ok as long as we don't burn down the house with ziltch bag antics.

Without hearing any dissenting comments, it seems obvious that we have a majority that are in favor of doing the Washita/Flat Nasty destinations for our 2010 PYS Tour. I am thinking we should just make that an official decision. I love the idea of an easy week. I also vote for the second week in June. For those of you that went last year, what other decisions do we need to make as a group?

Who is going to pack Tony's shit across MO.
Are we going to risk urinated in jamocha shakes in Rolla?
How many Wal-marts are there between here and there?
How many nights is John going to leave his truck on the trail?
Will Clint switch to vodka and Red bull to stay awake?
Will Dan have to leave early to let his dog out?
So many questions to be answered.

Actually, I don't have a date for the PYS tour. I was planning on just using Clint after the roofies kicked in, just like we all did last year.

I always wondered why they were called roofies. Cause you're more likely to end up on the floor than the roof. They should call em floories.

Would one of you make a decision please. I have to pick my vacation at the end of November and the way you clowns are going I'll be cutting it close.
So what is it? The first or second week of June?
Just something to think about. How many group meals do you all want to do and what kind of food are we talking?
