Again since I'm ridin Bi**h I don't care where we meet..
It did just occur to me that if Mark is not going, we need someone to do the 50/50 thing for the save tellico fund. I will step in & do that if noone else wants to.
Also on that note the Georgia Cruisers are having a $10.00 per ticket raffle to win a 89 fj62. All proceeds go to save tellico fund. Visit their site on Clubhouse fourm for more info.

Well guys, I am sad to have to say this but it looks like I will be going on this adventure with you all in spirit only. I got a call from my brother in FL on Sat. about my dad and the message was that dad was only given a few days to live. Dad is 85 with Alzheimers and lately has been diagnosed with severe congestive heart failure. Since then he has gone down hill very fast. Long story short, I drove down to FL Sunday not knowing whether he would still be with us when I got here. I made it in time but they say he will probably be gone by morning. Made funeral arrangements this AM and it looks like that will occur later in the week if their estimate on TOD is correct. I will be lucky to get back home by Sunday. I am really glad I came down and I believe he is too. I look forward to seeing all the pics/videos and especially hearing about all the stories (fodder for future campfires) . You guys have a safe trip now.
With you in spirit,
Ron

I brought my sister down with me and she helped do some of the driving. Thanks to everyone for all the kind words.

I took a "off the beaten path" route to GSMTR last year that I will not soon forget. Was a very windy, steep hilled, dirt road, pulling my 62 on a trailer. I personally renamed this Joe Brown Highway to The Joe Dirt Highway.

I am familiar with the route to Farmington but not from park to park. The directions from Salem to Flat nasty are correct. We went over on I44 and dropped down a scenic route to Salem when we went there. The addresses on the map are for the parks taken from their web sites. I did buy a paper fold out map of Missouri for more detail, it's better but still does not show some of the roads. I will bring that with for you guys to look at and use.

I am going to assume that because there were no responses to my post about exit 11 on I55 that the Cracker Barrel off of I64 /IL 157 in that map is OK for everyone.
I know the drive from Joliet to the Cracker Barrel would take about 4.5 hours. Indianapolis is about the same.
How about 12:00? 1:00? Later is fine if you don't want to leave too early Tom, you've got to be close to 8 hours out.

2:00 Illinois time is fine. It should take 2 hours or less to get to Washita from the Cracker Barrel. Figuring an hour to eat should put us there around 5:00 or so, plenty of time to set up camp.

How many intend on meeting at the Cracker Barrel and are you coming in groups or individualy?
Vicky and I will be at the CB at 1:30 and our phones are 618-604-6310 and 618-604-6319.
If anyone is going straight to Washita the phone reception is less than stellar so fair warning.

Tony and I are planning on meeting Tom when he gets to 70 just outside of Indy, so we should all be coming in together to meet at CB. Carl is still doing last minute stuff so he may be a day or so late, but we won't know until tomorrow.
I was putting the final touches on my rig today and I have a few more details to do tomorrow, but I will be ready with ease. I went shopping tonight and found a nice Coleman rechargeable blender, so the margaritas are going to flowing! Carl has a portable shower, so we should be good there depending on the campsites. It seems like we may be in the boonies according to what I can tell.

Excellent!
The boonies is about right. If the point is to "get away from it all" these places are it!
If Carl is going to be a day late or so let him know that we'll be on channel 4 on the cb. That freakin' whip of mine picks up all kinds of stuff. The radio is to small to broadcast very far but I picked up some guy from Texas last time we were at the Badlands. Just in case the phones aren't working.

Flat nasty was really great. So far smorr is huge dissapointment. We drove four hours and were told five minutes before we got there that there was an event and we would HAVE to wheel easy trails in the chicks in the sticks" event. We vot special permission to wheel outside the event, but we still have pay for the event.

Rained Sunday night through Monday evening. Forcing wet tear down & Holiday Inn action. Other than that very HOT & VERY humid. Thankfully cool in the evenings.
How you doing?
