Here is the scenario I enjoy.......Ron cooking with Clint's verbal instruction while Clint and I sit back and enjoy a cold adult beverage. Great entertainment (GSMTR '08).
Does anbody know if there will be grocery stores somewhat close to the different camping locations (Bill )? I hope, that way I don't pack much food and just buy as we go.

Who's all trailering?
Clearly Carl is. I can't see him driving the 4Runner down the road that far.
I am. Lots of room for Chicagoland stuff. I'll bring a Weber too.
Clint? Tom?

Food? do you mean there isnt a mcdonalds or a subway in town?....
After Clints "pizza hut disaster '08".... I am cautious.
I have been daily driving the mall crawler the last few days through 100mi of chicago express way. I think its ready. And as long as I can keep it between the lines it should stay ready.

Washita about 8 miles from Farmington and they have a McDonalds for John.
Flatnasty has a gas and go a couple of miles from the park entrance.
I don't have any info on SMORR, I haven't been there yet. REKUT is supposed to be there at Washita and he will be able to tell you more about that.
I broke down and got Vicky a 2 burner stove so she could have morning coffee and I will be able to help out with making breakfast.

Sounds like that may cut into your briquet consumption .
So it sounds like we should be prepared for a short supply of grocery stores. I know beer and pretzels travel well.

If I am in charge of a group pitch in, than Ron WILL work! His pitiful act is wasted on me Every trip like this brings about great stories. We will have plenty of time around the campfire "circle" to relive them!

Dang Mark, this responsible behavior of yours is givin guys like me a bad name. If you keep it up I won't be able to tell people I know you anymore.
Reasonable time & money management is so unlike most wheelers I know.
Be sure we have your phone # so we can call from the trip & let you know how much fun were havin, we can put you on speaker & set the phone in a chair & you can join in on the campfire bull sessions

Cocktails at camp are not a problem at Washita or Flatnasty. SMORR is unknown.
I may be able to get away with a quart size zip lock of briquettes now insted of the gallon size per day. Freakin' coffee is a charcoal killer.

SMORR allows you to drink in camp. They allow all night wheeling but lock off the camp ground around 11pm. Not a big deal. If you want to wheel later than that you leave your rig outside the campground fence but still in the park and walk to it to wheel at night.
I am trying to bring 3 truck up for Sunday, possibly Saturday night. Also plan on SMORR the next weekend. Will have to skip out on F/N
This was posted from REKUT in the Gateway clubhouse.
Windy City Cruisers may want to come down I55 insted of I57 it would save you close to 100 miles. I55 joins with I70 before the I255 exit and would make for a straight shot for you guys.

This is up to todd and john. It doesnt bother me which way we go down. I just thought in spirit of the mini UA that we would meet up with the hoosiers along the way. Alot easier to do it in Effingham than the St Louis area I would think. I dont remember seeing to many large truck stops going through St. Louis but it has been a couple years since I have been through it.
But on the way home, the plan is to take 55
We could meet at the budweiser brewery though.....

Tony, this responsible behavior is more proof that I have not had any seat time in the cruiser. The wife has always said my IQ is cut in half as soon as my butt gets behind the wheel of the 40. So to combat this infliction I will start spending at least 30 min. a day in the garage sitting in the drivers seat and making engine noises, while bouncing from side to side and yelling "DRIVE IT LIKE ITS AJ'S". If all goes as planned with this treatment I should be back to normal in plenty of time for the next trail ride.

I called Washita and although not outstanding it is still a good deal. If we show up after 2pm Saturday he will not charge a park fee for Saturday but we would be able to wheel if we wanted.
1 day $20/vehicle plus $10 per additional day
$5 primative camping
Flat Nasty 1 day $15/ vehicle $5 per passenger and $10 per additional day plus $5 per passenger
$5 primative camping
SMORR is 1 day $20/vehicle $5 for passenger
2 day $35/ vehicle $10 for passenger
3 day $45/ vehicle $10 for passenger
One other piece of info, gas is 10 cents a gallon cheaper in MO. so I always try to fill up there.

I also saw on SMORR's website that they do not take credit cards, so plan accordingly. I don't know about the other parks.

My understanding was that everyone was going to stop at the Cracker Barrel on IL. 157 for a bite to eat and hook up with Vicky and me so I don't have to go 140 miles out of my way to hook up with you.

Bill, did you get into the ether again. Im guessing you are talking about I-55 and I-64 intersection. The I-57 and I-64 is mount vernon and there actually happens to be a cracker barrel there to so you had me all confuse for a second.
But if there is a wal-mart, T&A truck stop ( I know its TA truck stops), or something along those lines were we could all meet up in a good sized parking lot I say we can make that (I-55 and I-64) the new location for all of us to meet.
For the hoosier cruiser, I -70 runs into I-55. If you look at google you will see that the become the same highway.
Intially Todd, John, and I were going to meet up with the hoosiers in Effingham, and then meet up with you and vicky around the st louis area so you wouldnt have to drive out of your way

Driving Directions Search - Rand McNally The Google map does'nt have MO AA listed and there are no signs for what they consider MO Y where you need to turn.

Ether, No. I don't care if you want to drive through Texas first, just trying to save you some gas and time. If you would rather skip the Cracker Barrel I can meet you at the park. I don't intend on eating there. I'll eat at home before I leave.
The McDonalds across from the CB has semi parking and there is also a Taco Bell with a huge parking lot. Ample parking is the point. This exit is the easiest for getting off of I255 and back on I255 for such along train of rigs as there are no lane changes for ether on or off with long on ramps so it's easy to blend with traffic when getting back on I255.

My bad Bill. I misunderstood the 1 in 157 for i-57. I see what you are talking about now. Is there anything right off of i-70 / i-55 where we could all meet instead.

Hey Bill, what about i-70/i-55 and 157. Think this is what john was talking about in an earlier post. It seems to have a wal-mart and quite a few different food choice. I personally wouldnt mind meeting here incase I forget to bring something and dont have to stop twice looking for a wal mart.
New map with starting location, where we would all meet ---> http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...921875&t=h&z=8
and can someone tell woody to change the hyperlink font color????

I didn't check the other links and found that they didn't work, sorry. The first address is the Cracker Barrel. The directions to Washita have Mo. AA listed as Mo. Y but Mo. Y is not on the sign where you need to turn only AA if I remember correctly. Also the I255 loop south avoids the crap of I55 downtown St.L. These computer directions are alright but I always go back to a good old fashioned atlas for main route choices.
from:2421 Old Country Inn Drive, Caseyville, IL 62232-2305 to:410 Thomas Rd. Farmington, Mo to:N37 27 55.0 W91 35 40.4 to:+37° 5' 9.24", -92° 43' 55.38" - Google Maps
