Attica Family Campground

Badlands Camping:
Me and Bethany stayed the night and camped at the Badlands campground - A.k.A. - The Attica Family Campground. It's located about 50 yards outside the entrance to the Badlands.

I offer the following info for anyone who is interested, and might be staying at this campground in the future - as their website is not very informative, and is without pictures...

Attica Family Campground:

1.) The website says to call for reservations. - This would give one the idea that there is a maximum capacity and designated assigned campsites. There are no designated sites, and you setup camp wherever you can find room. I don't think they turned anyone away for being full. The campground was VERY CROWDED.

2.) "Campground" - The Attica Family Campground is not much more than a big open field with a bathroom / showerhouse in the middle. No shade. There are old rims spread around that are used as fire pits. If your "site" has no "fire pit" - feel free to grab one that nobody else has claimed.

3.) No Alcohol. - The rule sheet that you sign, as well as numerous signs around the property say that there is no alcohol allowed. Myself and most everyone else that I saw had beer. They don't search your cooler, or even ask about it, and the alcohol police did not appear to be on patrol. I got the impression that as long as you weren't out of hand, you were cool.

4.) "Located at the entrance of the Badlands" - 100% of the campground patrons were Badlands patrons. About 80% of Badlands patrons are ATVs, Quads, Dirtbikes. The campground shares the property line with one of the ATV tracks. This means that from the time Badlands opens - until Badlands closes, you will be surrounded by ATV's and their noise.

5.) Price / Experience - It's $14.00 per night. Checkout is 4pm on the day you leave. Check-in is anytime. As long as you know what you're in for, it's no big deal. You're surrounded by wheelers, and a stone's throw from the park. We had a great time. Only 1 complaint - the bathrooms and showers are a big mud pie!

Yeah, the convenience ain't worth the lack of amenities. The club generally camps a ways down the road at Summers Carol camp ground. They've got shade trees, better facilities, allow alcohol and an altogether better "camping" experience.

Looks like you guys had fun from the pics in your other thread. As soon as I get off my butt and extend the brake lines on the 80 I'll be back at it.
