thought I should stop in...
and say hello!
I go by the screen name of Bear, live in the western suburbs of Indy. My family and I moved up here in '04 due to my job.
Up until last weekend, I have been exclusively involved with TTORA as I only owned a '97 Tacoma...even jumpstarted the new chapter up here in Indiana and am the current president.
But last weekend I brought home '71 project 40 for my son and I to build. Found mud through some of my research and since buying the "little devil" have spent more time on it than any of my other boards.
Would like to meet up with some locals sometime, to shoot the breeze, wheel or throw back a few .
I hope to become as active here as I am with InTTORA. Just please don't hold my tacoma against me. It is pretty cabable with it's solid axle and ARB's. I am going to try and have the 40 worthy by this time next year if not sooner. That way I might actually get to drive it some before my son gets his liscense.
So hello everyone.

Welcome!
Where are you on the west side? I'm out just west of Brownsburg.
We'd never put you down for your Taco, we will however try to speak slower !
Again, welcome,
AJ

Well I appreciate the courtesy of speaking slower…I might just understand a bit better, seeing that i am actually from the south and y'all know how much "slower" people are from the south!
If you are ever in the Avon area and see a silly looking gold taco on 37"s with vinyl graphics plastered all over it, try not to run me off the road!

I guess the damn bosses! they decidd to move my department and if I wanted to continue to be able to feed the kids, I needed to move also.
Funny thing is, the company didn't think anyone wanted to transfer, so I had to push the issue!…and now have gained 45lbs. and can barely find a rock or two to put a tire up on!
The badlands is okay, but like anything you continue to go to the same place over and over again…it gets old! and what's up with all the "skinny" trails up here? back home you just had to worry about rocks reaching up and biting body panals, up here you have trees and more trees that my long wheel base just can't get through.

Trails are tight, it's fun trying to squeeze an 80 through them. I used to live in West Texas, about an hour South of Lubbock, little town called Seagraves. I spent three years in that dust bowl and another year in Abernathy. It sucked but I did like it down around San Antonio. Maybe next year I can meet you out on the trails, don't think I'll be out this year.
Oh yea I should give you a proper MUD welcome
Later,
Chad P.

Both my parents were born in Lubbock! You were right...that area is a dust bowl. I went back there about 5 years ago, for a funeral. Went out to my uncles old farm and it was basically buried in that fine pan handle dust!
My wheeln season is dwindling this year. Got a few repairs to my taco that is keeping me off the trails more than I want currently. But you never know, I might be out another time or two.

I won't admit to anything! But I do recall an incident when he roped me into going after it in a storage yard. He took a smokewrench to it and cut it in half. We lost the windshield on the ride back home.

so you are saying I should "look" at the cage a bit closer huh?
Just joking! but sounds like a definite camp fire story!
Off topic: looks like we will be taking a bunch of Newbies to the Badlands on the 8th, hitting the quary first in the morning to do some instructing and then increase trail difficulity through out the day. If you have nothing better to do, you are more than welcome to meet up with us.

Eh, Rugburn's alright, I just don't recommend riding across the country w/ him. And DO NOT let him bring roadsnacks!

Oh! I wasn't saying anything negative about Rugburn, but you need to be careful who you associate with
I do have one common interest with him though, Shiner Bock beer! can't comment on the road snacks, I'll have to take your word for that one!

yea it sucks that you can't get it North of Kentucky! Heard you could get it West of Chicago, but have not confirmed as of yet. It does such though! Especially since it seems I was wheened on the stuff!
We had a big run down in Arkansas last year, I contacted a bunch of buddies of mine from Texas before hand…had them all bring me a case each.
Got to Arkansas and found that they sold it there as well. So I ended up with almost 10 cases of the liquid gold to bring back. Too bad it doesn't last in my hands and was gone in a matter of a month or two!
I had another friend of mine bring me some to the last Harlan run I went on! that lasted a bit longer than the weekend.
But since, I found out you can buy it just South of Cincy. So I am working plans to make regular visist down that direction

Oh dude! you got a standing order for the shiner! I expect at least a 12 pack everytime we wheel together!  Next InTTORA run is Sept 8 at the badlands {hint, hint!}
I do plan to get in personal contact with both "ghost" and Polak. they are actually near my back yard from the sounds of it!
(yes, Space Ghost, I know I owe you a phone call…school just started back up for us and the house has been a bit hectic but I will make it here soon!)

Shiner is also available in the Batesville, IN Kroger store. Batesville is 90 minutes south of Indy on I-74.
