looks like I am getting about 12 mpg.. not quite what I wanted, but the C6 is killing me.
I also am turning 3K at 70ish.. I am seriously considering dropping to 3.70 gears from the 4.11's. The dual tcases will give me plenty of crawl off road with the auto, and dropping the R's will be good too.. I also installed a tach int he stock hole, a radio (HD) and a CB. Bob's coming together

I had no idea they made tach's that small! I think my tach is a 2-1/16" and its a tight fit in the hole.
12mpg? Quit doing burnouts! 3.73's shoud make a pretty big difference. |

I hit 75 (on the speedo) in second already.. Still pulling very strong. The motor is limited to 6250 rpm or so. I was probably at 5K ish.. Didn't have the tach hooked up at the time
![]() That is a 2 1/16" tach. Tiny, but fits the hole fairly well.. a fatter bezel would make a big difference. I really wanted 15/16 mpg.. keeping my foot out of it would probably help lol

I could probably get 11 in my 40 if I kept my foot out of it. Instead....I get 9.

Spotted!!!
Hey Mace,
Saw you driving Bob yesterday! You were turning north on to Durango off of Blue Diamond at 5pm. I almost chased you down but we needed to get home. Looked good except for the bondo!

I guess that means I'll need to put my roots blower on the front burner. That & a 200 nitrous shot, should leave Bob & his silly toyota axles in the dust
![]() I just did a gear change on my buddy's Moser 9". It's running behind a very built 355 with a Weiand 672 blower & 200 shot of nitrous.... it should be in the 800hp range on the nitrous. Maybe I'll borrow it for our race

It would be flat out scary in my 60 by the time I hit 2nd, but worth it just to beat Jason ![]() Ofcoarse it was just a joke, but I think a roots blower would work out pretty good on my small block and probably safely get me into the 450hp range. The main advantage would be the lowend power provided by the blower that would be available right off idle. Too bad I'd have to have a scoop to fit it under the hood. |

Thanks for the smartass useless comment
![]() 450hp in a heavy ass wagon is not that much. A few years ago I was on a trail with about 2-3 feet of wet snow where the Tbi350 would bog and completely stick the truck. If I would have had more lowend power , to keep the wheels spining and build momentum in the areas where I could get more traction it would not have been a problem and I could have made the trail instead of digging my self out and turning around 250 yards from the summit. I would never had made as far with my previously hotrodded 2f. Point being, the way I use my wagon, I never know if I'm going to be in the rocks, mud, sand or deep snow. As long as you use the power only when you need it, than a 450hp engine would be just fine (as long as it has a stable idle), especially when it makes a ton of power (probably 250hp+) in the lower rpm's where its really needed. Just because you have 450 ponies at your command does not mean you need to always be using them. |

I totally agree sixty.... I consider my 60 more a "extreme" expedtion rig. Does decent in every category and I can still drive it work. Having 450 ponies on tap would make everything more fun.
![]() I would have made this puddle if I had 450... ![]() ![]()

I have to say that I wouldn't need the power that often (just like most of my other mods) but you do run into circumstances where the only thing that can get you thru is momentum and wheel speed.
I guess the best way to describe the way I use my rig would be the same way as you describe yours. A buggy would be nice, but I hate to sacrifice the comfort of the 60, on the trail. |

lol Donno, I like the power my 60 has now. But, I wish I had more ![]() The ability to crawl with gears or to spin the motor when I want to is a greatg combination.. I'm still gonna do the nitrous shot for pismo

![]() Video of this would be great. You still driving Bob with no a/c? If so you're more hardcore than ALL of us! I found my oil leaks, looks like the pan gasket I got does not match the pan and the dipstick needs to be re-sealed. maybe I'll get around to fixing them this upcoming week. |

I'm always grumpy, I just don't post alot ![]() With more go pedal your gonna have a better chance of braking something(we all know that). The trails that I really enjoy are at a minimum of 3-4hrs to nearest napa. If you brake something in the middle of Dusy or Saline your looking closer 14hrs one way. If was gonna go for high HP numbers, I'd want to do something like Gary did on his wagons. big HP without lossing alot of driveabilaty. but even then the guy that bought the 62 nuked the rear DC and spent at least a day trying to find a shop in Moab to build him another. If I was you I'd swap the 302 for the 2f in your 40 and dump the 302 in it. think about this... what vehicle are gonna be out in the middle of no where in? just my $ .005 I'll go back to |
