Well after all this thinking I remembered what it was I did on most of my custom (read stupid) ideas. I put on my coat, picked up my grinder and made me some noise.

The steel will speak to you on most occasions and I find that things have a habbit of falling into place.

So I did a bit of cutting and I did a bit on banging and then some more cutting. I looked at some window options and some more door options and then the decision was made.

My BJ 42, now a BJ42.5 is to be a 4 Door Family wagon.

So it has begun, spot welds have been drilled, doors have been cut and it is starting to take shape.

I took into account the feedback I got and here is how she sat as at 0015 today.

Oh and did I mention I HATE BOG ... damn those doors are full of it .....

OH. MY. GOD.

After all these years of searching, I think I've just fallen in love.

Build it - they will come!

And I want one - keep it going my friend.

Cheers Boyo, you shouldn't have to wait to long. My dual rate coils are arriving this week and then I can do some final setup. Now I have decided on the look / proportions it will be full steam ahead.

Plan is to have it ready for paint straight after christmas so I will need to have thd fabrication stuff sorted and have it driving before then to make sure everything is going to work before paint.

Well work is continueing. I managed to pick up two pairs and pretty much rust free doors today (should get them this week) which will allow me to build the rear doors. Once I have them sorted then I can hang them, gap them and start welding everything else out.

Still looking good to have it sorted by New Years .

Cheers guys well by COB tonight I should have an even bigger pile of doors and hopefully some without rust in them. Plan is to have at least the passengers side door done by the end of the week.

Luckily out of the last few I cut up the last one eventually told me where to cut it, I had to make it suffer but in the end ut gave up the good oil..

I'm really liking your cruiser! I know you've moved on from your suspension, so my question is a little behind. I was wondering how far apart you mounted your coilovers in the rear? I'm asking about your rear suspension, the upper mounts in between the frame rails. Just curious on the separation between them in inches. I really like how you extended it w/ 4 doors and a rear bench seat. It looks like you'll be mounting that rear bench seat right over top of your coilover towers. Should make for a nice clean rig with no big ass holes in the bed, you'll still have somewhere to put things in back. Your coilover mounting looks good to me, and I'd say it will work great. There isn't a lot of info about keeping your frame w/coilovers out there.

Cheers.

Well it took a bit longer than expected but when I got home tonight my new 40 series was sitting in the yard. Looking good to start the first rear door on the weekend.

Yeah that is a sweet build, seems he has my problem and doesn't know any better

Well looks like it is raining outside so a weekend of welding is looking good, if all goes to plan should have one rear door and jig all sorted to post some pics.

Thanks for the specs on your mounts! Looks like about 2.8 inches apart and 9 inches tall, those are rounded #.

Steelart, Where are the progress shots??? I'd imagine you'd have it painted by now. We have been waiting patiently but the time has come to show us the good.

It is with great interpretation that I want to take my BJ and turn it into a 4 door and you seem to be the first person to do it.

It looks great so far and I'm positive it will be killer.

Cheers
