Driveshafts....

time for some planning....

D300 case, toyota pinion flanges. Mixed bag, for sure.

Front will be 1310 joints, easy enuf. Have the 1310/Toy flange already available, just need the shaft whipped up - and my current Woods shaft may suffice as well.

Rear needs something beefier, most likely 1410's....however, no clue on options for putting a 1410 joint onto a Toy flange....anyone? I know there is a mixed u-joint available for 1350/1310 setups...not sure that is strong enuf tho. No CV's...links will adjust that out easy enuf.

(yes, the D300 will have 32-spline upgrades, and yes, the front "may" be a double shaft for tranny plan clearance...should know more on that this weekend after mocking up the drivetrain some...)

Planning on Tom Woods shafts, have an email into him already about his thoughts.

Just curious, why Woods? I haven't had any purchasing experience with him, but the phone call I had made me plenty sour towards him...

Personally, I'd look into running a Toyota u-jointed shaft for the rear.. the only issue will be at the t-case flange, but I'd bet either TW or Jesse has a flange for that. The Toy stuff is pretty strong (Jesse seems to rate them around 1350 strength)

On the front of mine, I'm going to be running a Toy 2-piece shaft with a 1410 center - not as outrageously expensive as I imagined... of course, t-case outputs are easier, since I'm running a minitruck case. not having a 49" long front driveshaft hanging down to hit on every rock will be nice, too.

Woods for a few reasons:

1> my current front is a Woods and is 7 years old...I've never busted it
2> Woods is a TLCA advertisor
3> Woods does the shafts for Troy at the Badlands shop, someone I respect for their buggy builds

If I could get away with a Toy-joint shaft front and rear I would, but not sure there is any flange out there for the outputs....Woods doesn't list one, Jesse's site is a clusterfawk of uselessness, and I haven't spotted anything anywheres else yet. (hence, my questions...lol)

I'll know on the front after the weekend....hope to have the 700R/D300 mocked up by Sat.

Run toyota shafts with a d300 flange. Jess makes em: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showt...300+driveshaft

simple search on pirate you newbie

with those you can just reuse your shafts and have them retubed if needed.

1410s are huge and would require all new shafts and flanges for axles and yolks for the D300 which means much more $$

tho 1410s are bling.

"My Shafts a Woody", Tom Woods has been making some of the best shafts for years... on top of that he is a MAJOR club & landuse supporter. For that reason alone I would stick with the proven...

I've not been able to tear mine out yet, but what really kicks butt is the hat that says "My Shaft is a Woody" ... don't think the in-laws care for it though.

Need????

Doubt it...Your junk is not that heavy..if you have not broke joints/shafts up to now, I doubt that you will NEED that big a joint in your truck now...but what do I know...

Unless you bind things up, in which case, anything will brake....just ask Nolan about his front end a couple weeks ago...I know this too....BHCC '03

I strongly strongly urge everyone NOT to use

Arizona drivelines
driveshaft superstore
driveline solutions
OR
Gloeco inc

2417 west lincoln phoenix, AZ 85009

OR WHATEVER THEY DECIDE THEIR NAME IS TODAY.

ONE purchase, price changed three times in two phone calls for the same damn shaft, sent it to me late, was made wrong, came late, replacement pieces were shipped 3 day instead of overnight like i was told, day of comp had to pickup parts for the USPS office. Yes they shipped USPS> LMAO.

Billed me one and half times, claimed my shaft was built one way, when they had the build paper infront of them that said exactly what i recieved. AFTER about four monthes of phone calls and almost time for me to fly down there to actually get something accomplished, it was finally fixed.

Oscar and Jason will receive several choice words if and when i ever see thier face.

Again choose another driveline shop, you local driveline shop can and will turn out better work then these people/company can.

BTW they dont know SHIAT, i told them and had to tell them what i wanted, they had not a clue.

Toms Woods is about an hour from me.

Always recieved awesome shafts, awesome Customer Service and a killer price because most of my Jeep buddies use him.

Then again, Jess is cool and makes nice shafts too, I also hate his website.

I have Jess shafts

Front is here, and damn....talk about beef. 2-piece front, 1350 at the D300, minitruck for both front joints. VERY nice, and more beef than I expected...

Rear is still being measured, but will be a minitruck CV at the case and minitruck or Cruiser at the rear pinion.

The front shaft from Jess is a monster compared to the Woods shaft I had made 5-6 years back....

So you did the Toyota carrier bearing? I'm leaning the same way... I'm just WAY behind, compared to you.. :(

How long is your drive to Roundup gonna be?

center bearing is what Jesse provides...not Toyota, but a much heavier unit and more stable. VERY solid.

RoundUp is 1400 miles each way....

I just got a "free" driveshaft from a drawing and not only did it cost $300, but it was built all wrong.

The fabrication on this looks like something I would do, not that of a supposedly reputable dirveline shop.

I took a picture of it and Jesse offered to build me one for whatever I could sell it for on Ebay. He is the man. I wish I had sold the "free" certificate and had Jesse just rebuild the one I had from him that exploded.

got a pic of that thing for us Nolen??

just popped one of my new one.....front 2-piece HighAngle next to my 6 year old Woods shaft....

The Woods shaft served me well for many years, and will be revised for a spare for future use....it uses minitruck pattern flanges with 1310 joints....11" stroke....but never came booted or protected, and the diameter difference is obvious.

The Jess stuff is just plain beef.....

Nah, not going to go there. If anyone wants to dig, they can but all I can say is that if you choose anyone other than Jesse you are crazy.
