Ok Maybe not all that hardcore, but here it goes...

I was reading about 4-link and was wondering if it would be better to find a Fj-60 axel out of a junker and fab up brakets for coils and truss it for the links that would be needed or...

Find a Fj-80 axel with a high-pinion and fab up brackets for the control arms(on the frame). But from what I've read Fj-80 axels are a bit wider and I am not sure if the drive shaft bolt pattern will match the 60s, but having a high pinion will more than likly cause the front drive shaft to be shortened as well.

I only plan on running 37's so I want to keep cruiser axels under my truck. Any ideas would be cool, It would be a nice side project to pick up the axel and get started fabbing stuff up.

I really love the ride of the 80's but I could never get rid of my 60, yah yah yah just buy an 80 but what fun is that if you can have the ride of an 80 with the cooler feel and lines of a 60.

A fairly recent Toyota Trails mag showed a rear 80 series axle swap into a 60 series. Very nice. Killer flex with the coil / multi link suspension. Plenty of cutting and welding, but they addressed the difficult issues and gave recommendations for making it beefier. I would consider it if I still had my 60. Check out the issue, I can't find mine, but it should be easy for you to track it down.

IMO, do the 80 axle for the added strength.

There's a link in the Tech section about 80-axles under an Amigo or sumthin...might give ya some good ideas....and Gumby has used 80-susp parts under his 40, and knows a bit on the fab side of it.

If you can get ahold of an fj80 axle I would go with that. Full floater and a bit wider. But the diff is not quite centered and not completely offset. Still I would go with the 80 axle.

the 80 axle sounds like the way to go, im just hoping that its not too much more fab work.
