3FE, A440F and FJ-62 T-case into a 75' FJ-55?

I am thinking of putting my FJ-62 drive line and motor in my FJ-55. I have an extra 3FE+A440F+T-case and all electrical from an FJ-62 and I want to put it in my 75 FJ-55 which has no motor or tranny in it. Has anyone tried this? and if so were there any problems with clearances? frame being too narrow? or anything else that you ran into? Can I set it up like the FJ-62 or do I need to use the bellhousing mounts? Can the frame take the A440F?

WOW, it seems as I am the only person who has ever planned to do this. I guess I will post when I am finished.

I don't think you are the only one....

I know of others that were/are planning to do it, and I'm sure it has been done somewhere.

It also might take more than a day for someone with that sort of specific information to see the thread.

Sorry, I do not have any specific information that would be of help.

I have the same setup going into a 40/buggy as soon as I can get to it. you can't use the bell housing mounts so you must fab one under the trans. I would be afraid eve if you could the auto is too heavy for this, frame is way strong enough......
There is a good thread over o POR now where a guy installed the motor only in a 40, hooked it to the 4 spd.

I am moving that smae direction with a 3F-A440F in a 55. It will more or less drop in. You will need to cut off the old bellhousing mounts and add the 62 TC support. I am ditching the EFI for carb. The biggest issue I see is heat, the 3FE is a HOT motor. You will need to get a bigger rad but it should be a simple swap. Throttle will need to be reworked. I think I will go with the 62 pedal assy.
