rock-humping
how big of a deal is it to have high quality shocks on a dedicated rock crawler when your running leafsprings? i probably never go over 30 mph, but i have this problem with my rig bouncing (rock humping is what i call it actually) when it starts losing traction on something pretty steep....i've got doetsch's and i'm wondering if they aren't giving me enough dampening force? or is this rock humping problem just an inherant problem with leafspring setups? would a set of bilsteins help?

They do help, but I'm betting you also have a ladder-style anti-wrap bar, which typically creates a lot of anti-squat, which contributes to starting the hop in the first place.
I went from Doetsch's to Bilstein's mounted vertically and it helped, but was not a cure. The rock humping is actually what prompted me to cut the back half of the cruiser off.. it's a slippery slope!

nope my anti-wrap bar isn't the ladder type, it's made by jk customs and i don't really know how to describe it......but i'm getting ready to go 4 link in the back, i'm tired of that humping lol....i believe that it's just a point you reach where your pushing your leaf spring setup a little further and harder than it wants to go

Linking it (if done right) will take care of that hop for sure.. You'll love it.
