ARB Cross Shaft Pin

Long story short question.

Will it cause problems if i use the original Toyota cross shaft pin instead of the original ARB pin and retaining screw?

Story:
Broke my pinion and the cross shaft got hit on the head what caused a bent ARB Cross shaft pin, could barely get it out but its destroyed now.
The original Toyota cross shaft pin is about 10mm shorter so it wont go all the way to the other side.
I guess that there aint a lot of force on it anyway.....what are your thoughts?

I just broke the 2 spider geears that ride on that shaft so there has to be a little force transferred through it. Have you checked everything else in there to make sure it's OK? That shaft is pretty stout. have you priced a replacement from ARB yet? Their prices were pretty good direct. Might be worth it to save the gas $$ from a missed trip and get the right pin.

I might have missleaded you with the thread title and described lousy, what i meant was this gimmick.

I used that one because the ARB retainig screw was unusable.

Now I get it! I went out to test fit that bolt in my RD08 and it doesn't appear to fit, if you took the washer and rounded the bolt maybe, but as you've found, it doesn't go all the way through. I would still try to get the right part, but I would think you could run it, it would be easy enough to trade out if/when you got the right one.

Does it fit tight enough that any play could metal fatigue the retaining pin? the ARB configuration would allow the retaining bolt and the pin to move a little seperately. If that makes any sense...
