Now, what are the opinions on a miniturck steering pump pushing a 2" bore X8" rod? I have read confliciting on a 1.5 or a 2" bore. I was planing on following a tech link on pirate for increasing the flow for my steering pump or should I focus on a 1.5" bore?

I've been told by many wheelers more experienced than me to go with a 2" ram if you're gonna run 40" or bigger tires.

trail gear tech says a 2" ram is way too slow on a stock pump when wheeling. Unless you wheel at high rpms they claim the 2" will require a high output pump.

Even a 1.5" ram is noticibly slower than just the Sag box. How slow is too slow?

Stock toy pumps suck IMHO.

a 2" ram will be fine with a sag pump
(I am running one full hydro)

I have a 1.5" ram, 8" stroke (limited internally to prevent knuckle breakage) with saginaw box and pump. (stock, no mods)

FJ40/2f/cruiser axles/39.5 IROKS/8" wheels

The ram DID slow down the steering at low RPM's (even with 36's) but I can turn the wheel even when I shouldnt...

One thing to remember is once you have it, the amount of force you can put on your steering is much higher than before. If you get "bound up" and you can feel some resistance in the steering wheel, you may not want to force the wheels to turn. Espescially (sp?) with a 2" ram. You could find yourself with a broken knuckle, studs, TRE, trunnion, etc...

THanks for the info. looks like I am going to get a saginaw pump, then 1.5" ram. should be enough for my 35 and locker.

And then some. If you were closer, I'd have you come over and wheel my setup.

Chris, I'm gonna revieve this. Still in the gathering stage. How did you "internally limit" your 8" ram? Mind giving me a brief explaination?
