Good start to a budget buggy?
Has anyone thought about building a budget, lightweight buggy on 35's using the new Mopar full axle assemblies. Looks like a lot of bang for the buck. Once you swith the drive flange and cut off all the brackets should me pretty sweet. You will have to look past the wierd 5 on 5 wheel pattern thoughand 66" WMS:WMS. But for $1400, an electric locked 4.11 geared high pinion dana 44 front axle with disc brakes and high steer arms is a steal.
Mopar Performance Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Model 44 Front Axle Assembly and Other Jeep Parts and Jeep Accessories by 4 Wheel Drive Hardware There is also a matching rear for $1300 Mopar Performance Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Model 44 Rear Axle Assembly and Other Jeep Parts and Jeep Accessories by 4 Wheel Drive Hardware Jeremy __________________ Project Evelyn 71' FJ40 W/ 78 2F, 4 speed Tranny & Transfer SOA, 38" TSL's, 4W discs "When you rob Peter to pay Paul, you will get the vote of Paul. And will snap like a twig nicely..
The rubicon guys are swapping those out all the time. Get a D60 for less than that and run it. __________________ I am kinda gay....... My bud has a ZJ with a 2" lift and 31's, and the d44 under his rig has destroyed its universals twice. Both times was on road too.

I saw plenty of Rubicons with 35" - 36" range tires around there .. but sure they pop on rocks, not usually in mud or yes ?

Mud is a lot easier than rocks on components..

To their credit, the JK D44 Rubi Shafts are beffier that the TJ's.. i think the rear are 32 spline, and the front are 32 spline outers, they also beefed up their U-joints.
I still think you could build a Yota Axle for Similar money, but alot of work, and Used parts Vs. New 35's Tops with some Money in Beefing up some things.. it would be cool for a Sami on 35's or something! __________________ 1976 FJ40 TBI350 700R4 D300 SOA Locked 37" PBR's Protected by REDLINEColorado Land Cruisers - Club Redline Land Cruisers - PM me for info on our products or to order!
