beadlock question?

anyone know if 16.5" wide tires (pitbull rockers) will work on 8" wide allied beadlocks? will it balloon out the tires too much or pop inner beads all the time or what? my rig is heavy as hell if that makes any difference on how they would work or perform

While it isnt ideal it will work. you will likely loose less inner beads. Im a big fan of narrow rims. I wont go wider than 8" unless im running 14.5 plus. But it might not be a bad idea. I say do it, if it works well then maybe it can be a way to run that tire narrower, its way too wide.

Most people try and have the rim width 60-80% of the Tire width.. Id say 8" would be way too narow for 16.5's, 10-12" is what i would want for those! i Doubt you would ever pop an inner bead, but PBR's are already Ballon's to begin with!

Ive Currently got 37/13.5 Pit Bull Rockers on 17" Steel FJC Wheels, (7.5" wide) and they are too narrow!

Id be much happier with a ~9" wheel, it would also help with some issues with the Springs rubbing in the front, and the Tub in the back of my rig

You can kind of see by the shadow in this photos how far in the wheel sits on mine..

I know thats not directed at me, but I run the 37s. They are great. I was using sx's and the biggest difference was I didnt need any momentum to climb certain shelfs.

there's a thread over in pirate about some new sizes coming out for pit bull tires, including a 42x14x15 size, thinking that i will just try to hold out for that one.....depending on the weight i guess, the 39.5's only weigh 3 more pounds than my sx's even though they are tons wider, so maybe the 42's will be close i'm hoping

good on the road considering what they are. They are much better than my old sx's. they do tend to wander more though.

As far as the side wall, they flex like mad......

on the road they are rather quiet, and minimal vibrations, but yea they do wander a bit, i think because they are so wide..

they make Very Strange sounds when they bark.. they moan when going around a corner locked up..
