Wagoner Machine rocks!!!

I posted this at Pirate4x4.com also, but thought you guys could use the feedback also. I talked with Casey at Wagoner Machine Shop, Haskell, Oklahoma trying to put an SM465 to the NP203 rangebox, to the NP205 transfer case, ala doubler. He actually tracked down two of the very-hard-to-find factory 10 spline adapters, neither of which were up to his standards. Because he didn't want to sell parts that looked so rough, he custom made a 32 spline output for the SM465. So anyway, if you would like to upgrade from the 10 spline connection between the SM465 and the NP203, call Casey.

Not a paid endorsement. Just happy with the level of service they provided.

See ya, Luke

I can't talk about price because this was only a small part of what they provided for me. Call Casey, talk to him direct and tell him I suggested you call. He'll treat you fairly. Luke

is he also making a custom adapter too, one that's WAY shorter? I had a 203 with the SM465 adapter for a while, opted not to install in part cause that rare adapter is like 5" long....

What I'm doing is the factory adapter with a different shaft. I have the wheelbase in the 45 that will allow that. He was talking about a custom made adapter that has been in the works for a while that would be substantially shorter than the rare factory adapter. I got the feeling that all the engineering was done, but not yet in production, so, if people would express interest, that might be the nudge they need to begin making them. Give him a call. Good luck, Luke

32 spline 465 output has been made available for sometime now, as well as a 23 spline output, from different companies.

with the 23 spline you run the dodge version 23 spline input in the 203, with the 32 spline you run the th400 version 203 input.

Personally i beleive the th400 203 input is rarer then the 10 spline setup period. dang close.

You will be hard pressed to ever custom make a 465 to 203 adapter shorter then the factory 4.25" ish adapter, the 203 inputs protrude from the case too far and the bearings are not flush. You can gain approx 1.25" with trimming and setting the actual spline engagements between the two, but it still invovles a custom shorter adapter. IMO not worth the effort.

I dont know if the 23 spline setup could be made shorter, i have not opened/looked at this dodge case, and the 23 spline output shaft available for the 465.

This stuff really isnt all that rare, but the rarer people claim they are the more $$$$ they sell them for and rip off whoever buys them. Educate yourself, otherwise your wallet/ass will feel it.

I would be intersted in collecting the 10 spline inputs if your deciding to get rid of them, must be in great shape.

I found a new 10spline 203 input and installed that when I put it together. It wasn't all that $$.I'm worried about the spline/shaft wear more that anything.I run the stock 465/203 adaptor and it's length isn't a problem on a longer wheel base(FJ60).The original 203 input was missing half the material on the splines.

I'm not really worried about rarity or length, I was mostly annoyed with the fact that the output splines on my 465 were showing alot of wear and the parts that Casey was able to locate were also showing significant wear. The idea behind going to 32 spline is to get to a set up that shouldn't wear so easily or quickly. I know ORD has had this part available for some time now, but their prices seem to be higher than WMS, and I didn't really feel like I got the personalized service when I talked to them on the phone. I really like supporting the "little guy" more than spending money with the big guy. I know that I'm not reinventing the wheel here with or without Caseys help, I just was posting to let people know how pleased I am with the service I received and to let people know that there are options. Thanks, Luke

Sorry I'm so slow in answering....

No, I don't know the length of the new adapter. In talking with Casey, it sounded like they have all the engineering/design done, they just need some customers to make it worth their time to make them. Probably should call them direct for better info... Good luck, Luke
