Twin Shifters

After wheeling my rig for a few years, I came the decision that my original shifter configuration for my spliter (np203) and my 3sp toy case was not working out like I planned. I could not reach my spliter when I was strapped in and my toy case was pop'n out of high gear. Like most of us here, I have spent many wakeful hours at night trying to figure out what to do.

I was in my local auto parts store and saw a generic "Universal Automatic Transmission Shifter Kit" part number 6423. So I bought 2 at $50 a piece.

When I opened it, it had a lot of brackets to go on the transmission. It also had a piece of flat metal that bolted to the bottom of the shifter with holes drilled down it for a connecting shift rod. So, after mounting the shifters on the tranny hump, I fitted the flat metal buy bending it to the curvature I need to align my shifter rods to my cases. Then I was done. It was very easy to do. One thing I like about the shifters, is it has a lock position and I can easily drill out another one if needed.

Here are some pics. I took the pics with out the boots so y'all can see the shifter assembly.

Hope this helps someone else get some sleep. Now on to the next sleepless night.

I take it your body does not flex much in relation to the frame?

Mace you bring up a good point. Not really since I added a piece of 6" wide 1/4" thick plate steel to connect the frame rails under the radiator, but we will find out.

D'Animal, yes.
