Great work indeed. I wish I had the patience, oh and the equipment, oh yeah, and the skills. Can't wait to see the end results.

Very nice work with the Syncrowave 250.

Mad4wd happens to be a great vendor too. Larry saved my a$$ a couple of years ago when he overnighted a pair of Crane D60 knuckles weekend before the Rubithon..

Thanks Gary, I watched your build with extreme interest as I was planning mine on paper and collecting parts as you were building. You built a kick ass rig that set the bar as far as I am concerned.

Yep, please take my name off the list of bar setting individuals lol

I do set bars, but they are easier to trip over than anything else

My truck is just a beater in comparison. Great job.

This is a fantastic build, but to compare is not fair, Gary.......... your build was different and you had less equipement and few less skills, but overall your build still is top notch.

Back to the build, are you welding those body mountaing brackets strait to the frame, I though it might be better(but what do I know) to have bent another tab on the brackest to get more surface area to weld too?

Thought full strait vertical welds were a no no?

Rob

Blah, Blah, Blah.....When this is done, I want a picture of your 'beater' and Ronin together at an event if you don't mind. I don't think I would have the 'sack' to take a perfectly good 80 apart like you did. I really do not think you will get any love here on the beater comment, hehehe. Thanks for the compliments on my rig...if you have any thing that you would have done differently, added or whatever on yours, I would like your input on it.

thanks,
Lar

Rob,
Those mounts will be boxed on the other sides (top and bottom) also to create a fully streesed part, not just the 2 outside sheets. If it was just those 2 sides, it would flex and tear in no time...no side to side stability. Does this answer your question?

Lar

Got some more work done...trying to get all the mounts mocked up so I can remove the body and do the alluminum welding on it to fix/modify it.

We removed 3" from the fender apron. This lets me move the fender up 3" and forward approx. 2.5". This will help me fit the 40's easier but still keep the LC frontend lines. I am extending the rear part of the fender and may be slighly widening it also.

I need to add 1/2" of material between cowl and apron to get the hood to flush out on the grill...I will be welding bar stock in there and you wont even see it after its welded and buffed down. Apron allso reduced to 1" to hoodline.

The 3/8" spacing on the cowl to fender will also be filled for the 'smooth' look. I really dont like the gap so it will be made flush with the fender.

Working on grille mount. We are adding square to bottom of grille for strength and the mounts we have in mind. Will be welded and buffed when its fully fitted.

Grill mount crossmember....
We designed it, unfolded it, cut it out on our cnc plasma and then hit it with DA to buff it

Final result... A little overkill for the mount, but i like it. It is not finished yet...will be plated on bottom (dimpled also) and have a few other tweaks

I need to thank my wife for all the patience (long hours) and understanding...plus shes not scared to get dirty....gotta love that.

thanks,
Lar
