What TIG welder are you using for the crossmembers and frame welding?

Thanks for all the props guys!! I appreciate it coming from all you because I have seen you guys build some bitchin rigs here on Mud

Woody: Not yet...soon

Isotel: The fenders are staying You will see as we progress on the build.

Marcfj-45: I actually was checking out your thread awhile ago..too bad I am unable to read it, im sure it has some usefull info for me...the project looks cool.
www.aqualu.com has been great and the quality of their fab is top notch..we will be mocking it all up for fit then disassemlbing it. For basically being completely hand built, I am very impressed with it.

beaufort-fj60: The rim is an Axxis 17", I am using these for mockup because i have a set laying around in my other building. They are a good rim.

Moby: We use Miller SynchroWaves

Bkfj40: Hmmmmmm

Which one? I'm looking at the Synchrowave 200 and was wondering if it would be enough for occasional frame type work on 3/16"-1/4". Mostly it would be 20gauge to 1/8" but I want to be able to do a bit thicker reasonably well. I've gotten some somewhat vague answers on this - just curious what you think. Sorry for the hijack...

Love those clean welds, keep the pics coming!

Seems to be a first for me to see, custom factory style frame, but better.

Nice to see builds like this.

No worries on the hijack, hehehe. We use a 250DX Tig Runner (300 Amp machine) that is loaded with both Sequencers and Pulser modules. If you are going to weld 1/4" the 200 will do it (chamfered edges, multi pass, waiting on duty cycle) BUT i would recommend, depending on how much $ you have to upgrade to the 250DX and find a deal on one. You will like having the extra 'umph' for alluminum. If you ever want to talk welders, feel free to call me at the shop and we will rap anytime.

Thanks for the compliments guys:

We are working on body mounts and getting the tub squared up now. I will post some pics as soon as i have some

Larry

nice work larry! also, big props for posting this on here and not somewhere else. we all know that it'll be most appreciated on mud. your frame table and shop make me look like the preverbial "shade tree mechanic"!

really looking forward to watching this rig come together.

Awesome build.

I'll be following the build up on this one for sure.

It looks to be the type of vehicle I've always wanted to build but have never had the resources to do.

x2 on wanting your workshop.

Thanks for the kind words... I have some more photos to share. Work is progressing slowly due to day to day demands...

We started getting the motor ready by pulling it out of its cubby hole and splitting the trans. It is a GM Gen III 6.0L HO engine and 4l65E HD trans. It will look brand new when it goes back in, plus we have some mods for it.
