weekly update
Whew! It's been a long couple of days and I feel like I got a lot done even though I didn't get everything done that I wanted.
I clearanced the front hoop braces a little more for the 7100s since they are a little larger diameter.

Since I didn't put washers behind the studs on the rear I also needed take a little off the heads so the rim would be flush up against the spacer.
This is the model number for my 7100s. The 99 at the end is their code for custom valving and they printed the valving on the label.
Looks like I'm missing a couple pics from my upload last night. I'll post what I got. Anyways here one of the pics with the shocks mounted.
My wimpy lower return heater hose wasn't cutting it so I got some gates green stripe that has a much thicker wall and it holds it's shape much better. I tried to replace that 90 fitting preiviously but I couldn't get it to budge so the next time I do a coolant flush I'll have to give it another shoot.
That got Dora drivable and a trip out to Brokenpart's allowed me to test the new shocks and the rear locker. The shocks work great and the dampening feels really good; firm but not stiff. I went to Zack's for some more bending and to borrow his front bumper. In deciding how to mount it we ran into a problem since it's made to mount inside the frame and I put a cross member there. Out came the plasma! This works out anyways because the cross member has been pinched (missing pic) due to a couple good pulls and I want to incorporate a receiver into the new front bumper anyways.
I had to clearance a few things to get the bumper to side into the frame horns but Zack will tell you it's the grease that made the difference. We played with depth since the original mounting holes would place the bumper too close to my tires. We used the mounts I made for the original bumper to extend the frame horns. They already had the holes cut into them so it worked out great.

weekly update cont.
Once the bumper was mounted we bent some tube for the rear quarter protection. By then we had lost our daylight so I grabbed the pieces to work on them the next day. Zack started asking if I had this or that to take with me on the trail and I ended up going home with a bunch more recovery gear to sweeten the deal! Thanks again and much appreciation!
I decided to cover the back-up lights since those aren't working right now anyways. I tacked them all together to get what I wanted, removed the bumper and welded it up. I slapped on a 20ft paint job and put the bumper back on. With my  gone I had to go bug my neighbors to give me a hand sliding it back in the frame. I'll have to get pics of it completed but I like how the protection turned out.
With the rear bumper complete I turned my attention to the line lock. I went to Portland Oil Filter Service and asked them about adapting 1/4" line to 3/16" line. I walked away with a couple adapters and some brake line. I borrowed a bender and flaring tool from the local auto parts place and started getting things ready. They didn't have a small pipe cutter but my other neighbor did and that makes cutting lines 100 times better for flaring.
These ends were cut off to use compression fittings for the line lock valve.
Compression fittings are easy and effective. There are three pieces to it and that's the valve I'm using. I lucked out and got these for free which is why I went to the hassle of adapting to 1/4" line.
This is where I put my line lock and how I mounted it.
For plumbing I got an adapter to 1/4" for my master and ran the line to the line lock and then back to tie into the factory line. I bought an adapter for 3/16" line to 1/4" thread and used a union to connect the two. I needed to cut off the 10mm fitting on the factory line, put on the new fitting and flare the tube.
Flaring the line
The inverted flare turned out fine.
This is the 1/4" union to connect the 1/4" line I ran to and from the line lock to the factory line.
I again bugged the neighbor to help bleed the rear brakes so I could test for leakage and see if it actually worked. Works like a dream!
I picked up some 2"x1.5" tube to make some cross members for my skid plate. I didn't get started on this until yesterday evening so I was running out of time quickly. I cut, shaped, and repatched a couple ideas and decided on this.
I then literally just cut some 1/4" plate out and slapped it on. Don't know if it will hold and I'll definitely have to redo this later but at least I was able to get something underneath there.
I've been looking for some 16" rims on the cheap for a spare and a posting showed up yesterday so I grabbed them. It was listed as 16". Broke the beads and pulled out the old rim from one of the boggers and when I slipped in the rim I realized it was a 15 incher.  So now I have to try and find a rim before next wednesday. I work until saturday, leave sunday, and report to the trail on wednesday. I'm hoping I can find something on Monday that will work.
So I didn't get the antiwrap bar put on, didn't get the CB installed (didn't find the antenna at the local truck stop anyways), didn't get a sleeping plateform made so we'll be bringing a tent, didn't get my ready welder wired up but I think I'll sacrafice some jumper cables for that because I'm definitely taking that with me, and I still need a rim for my spare.
I'll be packing up the next two days and am excited to wheel the rubicon.

Le me underestand something .. did you intercept your brake line ( to the rears ) with the line lock ?
Maybe I miss something but seems you take the line from the MC ?

I was going to splice into the rear brakes line along the frame but decided to go out of the master (rear port) to the line lock and then from the line lock to the factory line. This way the 1/4" line is all first and I'm not stepping up in line size in the middle of the 3/16" run. This also only introduces only two more connection points than I had before. The fewer connections the better I figure.

The 4BT weighs less than the 2F, right? Would you recommend the same valving you have for a 2F 60? How wide is the top shock bushing?

Thanks Mike .. I got it .. can you share where do you got your lock valve .. ? there was not 3/16 option ?

I'll try to get some pics of the top mount and some numbers, I'll be focusing on packing tonight and tomorrow before I leave so I might not get that to you right away. ~1 1/2" seems to feel about right.
The 4bt is pretty close to the same weight but all the other stuff I have adds more weight namely the tranny and doubler plus the protection I've been adding. I'll report once I get some seat time on the trail but I'd lean towards a stiffer valving. I think their stiffest standard is 360/80 and is probably a good starting ground. If you are really picky you can change the valving yourself by getting different shims that'll change the rates. Again I'll have a better feel after my 630 mile trip on sunday and then my week at rubicon. So let me get some more impressions before I commit to anything.

I got my valve from a friend at work. I really didn't search that hard before I talked to him so there might be valves that go down to 3/16. The SwageLok site seems to show they are available in that size. I'm using a 40 series valve.

I'm not running a cooler. I do have a separate reservoir so that helps a tiny bit but a cooler would be a good idea. I'd like to get a little more flow out of the pump by drilling out the valve one step but it works fine for now. The rig just never seems to get finished.

Here are the missing pics from the weekly update.
7100 bilsteins. I'd like to move the reservoir but for now it works.
Front crossmember that I added before the plasma was fired up. It was just c-channel and you can see where it got pinched from wraping a strap.
Other pic of Zack's front bumper.
Other angle of the rear quarter protection during fitting.
Cutting the factory line to put on the new 1/4" adapter.
I just picked up a bigger storage container during lunch for fluids/parts/tools to go in the back of the cruiser. Hope to get it packed up tonight.

Finish .. are you serious .. ?
After 12 years with Tencha I can barely let it without work a month .. there is always something to do ( a leak a nut .. a fix .. etc )
I believe looking in a yunk yard will be pretty easy and cheap source a good tranny ( from a auto tranny ) cooler .. if you see one, pic another to me

Yello! just read your whole garage, the rig is crazy... I really like your way of solving things, and the fab skills are just gettin better and better! Also going to do the rear ass chop, and the sliders, think i'm gonna copy your way of doin it, as it looks clean and functional!
And for the engine and mechanical...wild! looks like you got a nice setup of friends and helpful network, thats extremly important, for me the whole car-thing is not just show-off, but also the whole social thing, wrenching, wheeling, trailing and fabbing! Keep it up!  The best from norway!

Thanks for checking it out. The LC community is full of great people.
The family and I are driving back to Portland tomorrow and I'm just starting to work on videos and pics of the rubicon trip. Almost 120 mins of video and we filled up our camera card with over 450 pics so there is a lot to look through. It was perfect weather for a incredible trail and Dora wheeled amazing. Everything just worked.
