Brokenparts is again an amazing host letting us come over and shower his driveway with metal, play with his tools, and use his electricity. It was another fun day fabing. Pics will take a day or two cause I'm helping family move into town today so thanks for getting those posted already!

Here is a pic of the extended front driveshaft. I added 2 1/2" to it. It's painted and reinstalled now.



2" Johnny Joint for the antiwrap bar. They sent out the missing bolt and I got it this week.



Got my links ready for the antiwrap bar. The top link is 36" and the bottom is 30". I'll put them together once I get the axle mounts done.



Over at brokenparts on the first bend.



Before that we mocked it up in BendTech to know where to cut, mark, and how much to bend.



After the top and bottom bars were bent and the center supports were bent and tacked.

I felt the separation between the top and bottom was just a little too much so I took out 1 1/2" from the center bars and tacked it back together. I liked that better and welded the centers on.


My landlord knocked on the back door the other day and wanted to know if I'd be interested in some steel he was helping clean up from a neighbor. This was a piece of channel that is at least 3/8" thick. Thought it would make some sturdy axle brackets for my wrap bar. I took it over to Zack's and used his plasma to trace his which are ruffstuff cruiser brackets. I ran out of time and energy to cut out another one so I spent some time with the angle grinder yesterday and cut out another one.



After some more time with the grinder wheel and pilet holes drilled out here they are.



The neighbor also had a few big pieces of 3/4" plate to get rid of so I grabbed three of them. I will never need to buy 3/4" for the rest of my life. I'll never get through all of that stuff!



While at Zack's I also tried cutting the 3/4" plate with his plasma but that was just too much so I'll be spending some quality time with the cut off wheels on these. I am going to use these as my frame mounts for the front bumper.



I shaved down my thrust washers and got the clearance I wanted on the side gears. Due to the c-clip I'll install the rest of the locker when I put in this third when I get my PP axles.



I'm off to visit family in CA next week and do some boating on the lake.

Just for the frame mounts. I'll put a hole through it for a shackle for a pull point.

I was really patient and only went through 1 1/2 cut off wheels. The 3/4" stuff will probably take me two hours!

My Poly Performance FJ60 axles showed up so I should be ready to install the tighter rear 3rd with locker, new axles, and wrap bar brackets the week I get back. I'll get new c-clips just in case. The only hiccup I can think of will be the studs that I've tacked to the back of the disc. I'm thinking of finding new ones that will actually press in, we'll see.

I've got my neighbor watching for their delivery. They didn't show up before I left so I sure hope they are sitting at home waiting for me when I get back. I think the axle mount bolt I'm running is going to be too big so I'll probably have to redo those.

Ordered my WAG toilet for the rubicon and ordered a CB. I was going to check the local truck stop to see if they had the antenna I'm looking for when I get back.

Even though I'm on vacation I've been doing some repairs to my parent's boat and general maintenance to get it ready for a weekend on the water. I have a hard time just sitting around so I'm glad I have something to do before our weekend outing.

FWIW you can take that plate to a local fab shop and they will cut it smooth as butter for $5 a piece. I've done that a few time for clevis mounts for bumpers I've built. I assume your time is at least worth that.

$5 a piece is well worth it. I'll have to look into finding a fab shop close by and see what they charge.

Vacation was good and the lake was great.

Came back and had a few more boxes to open. Here are the 7100s.



Portable toilet and wag bags for the Rubicon.



Poly axles FJ60 length



This time neither of them was painted and one of them looked like the numbers were ground off the outside of the flange. Kind of disappointed but I didn't want to make it a big deal so I just painted the flange myself.






Drained lube and yanked the stock axles and 3rd member.



This is the difference in the width of the original front studs (left) and the aftermarket replacements you find at common part stores (right). You can see that the original will insert up to the splined section while the replacements stop at the first shoulder. I didn't want to clearance the poly axles and after calling all over portland and not finding any original studs without ordering I cleaned up my old studs and used those.



Used an old wheel for support as I put on the discs and beat the studs in. I really need to get a press!



Got the rear aussie locker and poly axles installed. I had to go back to the instructions since I didn't have to deal with a c-clip on the front. It was a little tricky but not hard.





Cut off the old shock mounts and made up some new onesdor up front. The old one's bolt size was too big for the 7100s. Here are some crappy pics right after I slapped some paint on.







I've got 3 days left to get my projects wrapped up for the Rubicon. Not sure I'll get them all done and some are more important than others. Still need:

line lock routing
skid plate
tubes bent for rear quarter protection
tubes bent for front bumper and mounts cut and drilled
CB radio install
get a 6 lug 16" rim for one of my bogger spares

my wife is gone this weekend so I'll have the baby and the teenager all weekend so I can't be much help outside but you are more than welcome to come over and bend up some tube. I also have a press if you have any more of those studs to do too.

On the last set one side was painted so I guess I was hoping this set would be painted since I mentioned it to the service rep.

And about PP .. well order my set of axles cost me about 3 or 4 calls ( calling from here ) and wait about 10 or more mins in each call .. few mails and finally my axles ..

Yep, pretty sure I've got all the right sizes... If I have time this weekend I'll try to get out and make a few dimples (still havent used them yet). You can borrow my bumper and winch off my rig if the tube bumper doesnt work out.

Dora gets to try on some new accessories! Your bumper offer is very appealing and I'm thinking is a better route than trying to throw mine together. Then I can just focus on getting the rear done.
