Thread hijack on....
I am redoing my 60 knuckles, and have the ARP hub studs from FROR. Question: what is the appropriate method to install them? Do I put a nut on the top threaded portion and use that to torque? And to what torque spec? I'd gladly take an answer in a PM... Thanks Hijack off...... __________________ 1971 FJ40: OME suspension; 33x12.5 muds; SR; PS; front disks; rear locker. 1996 4Runner: SUA Dana44 on 35x12.5s |

Well, I tried to take it riding once and the front 3 link geometry was bass-ackwards and I had to rebuild it. The vertical seperation was LESS on the axle the on the frame -----> BAD! This allowed the pinion to rock back and forth about 70%
When I test drove it I only went up hills and it was rocking down but I coulndt see it from in the cab The first time I took it out I went down a really steep hill the it rocked up into the top link. :mad3: So I had to redo the suspension.I fabbed this to test my calculations and took it for a trip around the block. Then I decided to dump the clutch in 1-low and see how not bracing a bracket works. ![]() The I built it again and braced it well and did the dumping the clutch in 4wd, 4hi, 4low, 4lowlow on the pavement test and everything held up. Remounted my ram and out a cooler on it too ![]() Shout out to Poly Performace for my new springs ![]() Safty first

Not so much fun
It was kinda neat to load my truck up with a rear link missing ------> rear steer! A buddy from work let me park my junk in his shop for a few weeks. Hope to take it riding on Tues after Alfa buys my new tools

Holy shit! What happened? I mean, fire, obviously, but..
Really sucks when the FD has to come to one of their own's place, too.. BTDT.. But they did bring the cavalry once they realized where they were going.. (ex-GF's car caught fire in my driveway, in front of the garage) __________________ Rich in NC FJ - '73 FJ-40 Cruggy - LSx/4-wheel steer Rockwells/4-link/coilovers/42's Build thread --> http://forum.ih8mud.com/hardcore-corner/124040-keeping-low-rockwells-k-under-knife-again.html '01 Chevy 2500HD 8.1 Allison Lux-o-tow Last edited by Eskimo; 05-18-07 at 11:20 AM. |

I was welding, grinding, and torching that morning and when I came back that afternoon every window in my house was blacked-out. Usually when the fire truck comes to my house Im driving it and the lights and sirens aren't on
![]() Fire investigator/Tachedoutoffroad president (me) has determined that something hot started a tiny fire which smoldered for seven hours and did $49,800 worth of damage to my house. PLUS all our stuff The truck is just kinda melty. The roof, whole passenger side, mirrors, and interior panels are gooey. My home owners insurance doesn't cover my truck and I havent insured it because its not street worthy yet ![]() Im going on a week long, high profile ride in July that I cant talk about, so Im lucky that the house didnt totally burn and destroy my truck. Nobody was home and staying up welding in the garage is something that Ive done 1,000 times before and then gone to bed. I was lucky that this happened during the day, in an empty house. __________________ www.tachedoutoffroad.com http://forum.ih8mud.com/hardcore-cor...ined-taco.html Project: Dead Lined Taco http://forum.ih8mud.com/expedition-b...ml#post3376062 Ultimate East Coast Places To Go Last edited by TachedOutOffRoad; 05-30-07 at 08:58 PM. |

Yah, talk about a flame job!
Glad no one was hurt. I call my '69 FJ40 "Fireball" cause it burned to the ground once. What a mess! Talk about a fun cleanup job... __________________ utah4x4club.com U4WDA |
