was wondering for a fj60 stock but plan to desmog at some point - what is the best pricing but quality exhaust someone has come along -- cat to tail - shipped or just going to someone and having them get it -- thanks

I got mine made at a local place. The welding is sub par. I supplied the muffler and CAT also brought in the factory pipe after the muffler so all they had to do was copy it.

Here is where mine exits. The ghetto little shops owner wouldn't allow the pipe to go straight back. He claimed that my factory exhaust had been modified. I'm still irritated about that, but I'm pretty sure I got a good deal for all the work they did.

Just make sure that the tailpipe clears out completely from under your truck. The pics above is really well done, he won't get any exhaust curling back under the truck.

Has anyone had it come out from under the passenger rear doors? Thought I saw that on someone's cruiser and thought it looked real good but wondering if they would get any exhaust in the cab and/or stuck under the vehicle.
Gonna have to deal with the frame to do that gregnash. It might also get stuck under the truck at idle.
I've seen that on BJ60's though. The factory exhaust goes outside the frame rail down the passenger side IIRC
Just do a turndown in place of where my exhaust tip sits. Probably could snug it up closer to the body as well.

Here's mine. Custom from headers back. New Cat, new O2's, new muffler.
$450. Had to get it from an exhaust shop specialist. The Midas type shops wouldn't touch the customization.
Wish I had a picture with my chrome exhaust tip though!

mine is pushed up against the hitch - so the exhaust hits the hitch very close - i dont know if that would cause any problems but looks bad - love the look of a 62 exhaust from that comes out the side behind wheel and turns down a little - trying to find pics but cant

Equivalent stock muffler and tail pipe, hangers in correct spots...less than $120 w/ coupon. I removed the cat (saved the flanges) straight pipe from the downpipe to the muffler (use one cat flange, which will have to be welded to the straight pipe), cut straight pipe to length, slide muffler into straight pipe (clamp) insert tailpipe into rear of muffler (clamp) - done! I made some rubber isolators for the hangars out of sheet rubber I had and used s/s bolts for the attachment to frame location.
If you live in Maine repeat in two or three years.

I think that's perfect for a 60, it's how we did ours after we got sick of the bumper pinching the pipe shut every time we went to moab and dragged in the rear. And i personally think it looks a lot better

But yeah looking back, good thing its not under the bumper.
Stock Toyota muffler and tailpipe installed at the dealership is fairly inexpensive, and comes with a lifetime warranty. If you plan on keeping your Cruiser, you'll have free exhaust for the life of the truck, parts and labor included.
I got 3 free ones on my old 1st gen 4Runner before the frame finally started rusting faster than the mufflers.
Hard to beat if you're not looking for an upgrade from stock.

Just go to a GOOD, i.e. get recommendations from lots of folks, exhaust shop and have them do something like this in heavy gauge pipe:

MAF used to sell this kit for about $275, but it's NLA.
Even better would be to find a place that could do it in Stainless pipe, but that's kinda overkill for your area.

I did a Flowmaster 40 series with a Magnaflow cat about 6 months ago, took it to a local shop to put it in and finish the piping... was fairly inexpensive, kept the same diameter as the stock Toyota pipes (I bought the muffler and cat from "Buy it Now," dealers on ebay. The shop brought it all the way to the back coming out under the rear bumper, with no problems... I guess just pay attention to where the outlet is positioned on the muffler (R,L, or center) but I shouldn't think that would make too much of a difference.

In paid 300 to have stock system reworked and replaced from the header back with one new O2 sensor. They fixed the y pipe under the truck and since for some reason the exhaust that was on the truck cross under a frame rail and had another run of pipe coming straight under the truck.
it you take your truck off road this is a good exit for the exhaust. If you run it back like stock the bumper will crush the exhaust pipe when truck is at an angle.
