Hi all! My name is Heidi, I live in Providence,RI & currently own a '94 4runner. It is my DD & is stock, but that bugger has made every trail I have taken it on. I find that with the right driving skills, it really doesn't matter how big your rig is, or how many mods it has, there has to be some finesse there too.
I grew up building classic Mustangs & can pull an engine/tranny apart & put it together, but am clueless with all the suspension stuff for wheeling. All I do is listen to what my husband tells me. Maybe I should start reading the Toyota OffRoad instead of just looking at the pics
My first trail ride, which was initiated by my husband, on x-mas 2002 (I think), in a 73 chevy step-side (I loved that truck) and I have been hooked ever since. Nowadays, I wheel more then him, cuz his (86 4runner,6" lift, 34 swampers & god know what else) is always broke, and I am ok with the stocker, that is until now. I know longer need it as a DD.

introduction

I had 2 fj40s in the mid 70's in the mts. of NC. Now retired and have bought
a 76 and 75 Fj 40 to restore in my big shop building. My daily driver is a LX 470 1999. Here are my projects.

I also replaced some metal in the rear lower corners in the back
This spring I will start on the frame cleanup and paint and grind the interior floors and paint.
I picked up some orginial seats and white spoke wheels, the proper windshield wiper set up, a reconditioned radiator. So those will go on as I progress along.
The blue 76 needs major metal in the rear, but I has all it orginal parts, except for the rear seats and rollbar. So this crusier will be the second project, as my welding skills improve.

wow...just found this thread...

I'm Danielle I live near Denver, Colorado. I purchased my 60 in September of 07. Family hauling...daily driving.

From the time I was a small girl I wanted the red 40 my Grandfather drove.

My 60 is needing some TLC...

I'm not much of a mechanic myself..I am learning slowly but surely.

All the wiring had been replaced, vacuum lines, Rebuilt Crab, alternator, new tires, shocks...many more repairs.......my pockets are empty, but it is well worth it.

I can't wait to get up to the trails soon.

HI!

I am Ann, and I am totally in love with my FJ Cruiser. I'm about 10 minutes north of San Francisco, and have just registered for RUBITHON!

The H & I have been 4-wheelin since about 2001, with rented () jeeps and various other 4x4's. We enjoyed it so much the H talked me into the FJ after our last car died (it was an easy sell). January 15, 2007. I had pneumonia (didn't know it until the next day), I slept in the car while H worked out the deal with our Toyota dealership. I came in, signed some papers, and poof ~ it's an FJ.

I confiscated it almost immediately, although I let him think it's his so he can keep it fueled and modded for me. It's my daily driver. So far we've got a 3" lift, 33" tires, rock rails, armour, lights, and a few other goodies. We'll have a new bumper before Rubicon.

By May we'd done the White Rim in Canyonlands NP (4th time, 1st in the FJ), and a LOT trails between St. George and Moab. We spend a lot of time in the Sierra's near Tahoe, the High Sierra's (Mammoth), some Death Valley, Mojave... Lots of time at the 4wd parks in Hollister and Gilroy.

Next to my FJ, I love BEER! I'm working on the Beer Judging Certification Program, and hope to become an official Beer Judge by the end of 2008. We traveled to Belgium last year just to drink beer... We hope to go back in '09, if everything works out. I'm a real beer geek, and love introducing new beers to people. We're known around the bay area, so when other FJ'ers see our rig outside of a pub, they'll come in and say Hi.

One of my favorite organizations is BAD RAP... Bay Area Doglovers Responsible About Pitbulls. They're the group that rescued Michael Vick's dogs. We got our bundle of joy there last year, and could not be happier. 'Abbey' (a place you drink BEER!) is our trail bunny, and she goes with us on about every run. She's very polite, and has behaved wonderfully on every run, like the princess that she is!

Bad Rap : Bay Area Doglovers Responsible About Pit bulls

So I'm kind of new to this, but have jumped in with both feet. I'm active on the FJCRUISERFORUM.COM and FJCENTRAL.COM, and have met some great people since joining. We had 25 FJ's on the last Mojave Trail run in February! (mine is 3rd from the front)

that's cool that you're involved with pits. my neighbors have two and with the exception of their lack of obedience, they are really sweet dogs (one barks a lot, and neither really listen to their owners...owners problem, not the dogs). i'm not a pit fan, but i've grown up with rotties, who often get the same bad rap because of the irresponsible dips%$#s that own them.

BJ 40 newbie from NZ

I am diving into the deep end head first here and I hope there is water!

After many years of wanting a 4x4, trying to be responsible about my carbon footprint, and doing my research, I have fallen hard for the BJ40~

I live in Altadena (near LA) and just made my first LC purchase a few months back. I just got it off the boat in San Pedro from NZ last week and after some tire and brake work, I can't wait to take it to Death Valley.

My "big plan" is to run it on biodiesel as i keep it with me as my second car as I work part time in Vegas. I am eager to clean it up and have some fun in the sun, and eventually pull a day sailer to the lake!

As it is my first diesel, I have a lot to learn, but I have done a bit of tinkering around with bugs so at least I can adjust the idle......

You're so right, it's the owners. Pit's as a rule REALLY want to please their owner. So if the owner demanded more obedience, they'd get it.

I've always been a pit fan . Goofy dogs with square heads are about irresistible. I've know so many nice pitties, it's hard to believe they still have such a rotten reputation. Hopefully, that's getting better. My neighbor just rescued a Rottie, and that's one nice dog, too!

Wow! Cool thread!

I just found this thread after all these years! Who would'a thought all you gals are enjoying wheelin'.
My name is Laurie and I have been wheelin since 1999. I was in a slump, so my big brother drug me outdoors in his 4runner, with a bunch of other guys up to the top of a mountain, over sharp and slippery rocks and gravel, until there was no civilization in site, and I got bit by the wheelin bug. By weeks end I had a truck body in my driveway, sans wheels and motor, but a start. That was 9 years ago.
Now I am a member of goldcoastcruisers.com and love to get out and wheel with my brother and our friends. It is a family club so we usually have plenty of kids along, too.
I just completed (with the assistance of club members) a full body swap and transmission swap on my truck. Of course then I had to give her a new paint job. Sunrise Red Rustoleum with Herculiner in the bed and along the bottom sides. pics attached.
See you on the trail!

Wow, it took a while to find end of thread ;-).
My name is Christy Baer, Dallas, Texas. Bought my first cruzah FJ80 a month ago, 344,000 miles on it, used, '95, white, very nice condition.

Been wheelin' over a decade now (Baertrax), and the cruiser is a nice change over the "buggified jeep". Can't wait to hit the trails in it.
Party on!!!!
