Tested out the new tent!!

So I went camping over the weekend to one of our little spots. Wanted to go to our favorite sandbar on the river but it was ingulfed by the river due to the rain last week. Anyway the tent was awesome. First time I felt like I could ever roll back over and go to sleep while I was camping.

MMMM baked potatoes

It was nice Fri nite got down into maybe the 50's. Felt good in the treehouse

I love this tent and the fridge. I took out steaks, butter, cheese, bacon bits, beer and some other stuff. Fridge kept everything nice and neat and dry

Wondering how stable those cantilevered tent corners are? So the ladder is the only support? I've been thinkin of modifying my roof rack to hold one of those tents. That'll be down the road though. Nice setup!

I know its plenty stable for me and my wife to be up there. It is really solid and stable. I crawled around inside and it felt fine. The only thing that would move was the truck actually moving.

Now that would have been funny! Just envisioning the FJ-C slowly rolling down a hill with "Mini-me Hendog" and wife sticking out the roof top tent panicking and screaming!

The spot was an old kaolin mine that was decommisioned near my house. Problem is a week after I took these photos they locked it up and posted it. Seems the county that it borders bought it and is going to develop it. It was an awesome spot. Had access to the river which did not get used so the bream fishing was good, as well as the sandbar we had to camp on when the river was low. Oh well... I have been exploring the Oconee forest to find some new spots. But it does not compare to the areas the northern folk has quick access to. Oh well.
