GSMTR and CMCC
On the topic of CMCC... a friend suggested we go there after GSMTR this year. I have never been and not sure how far it is from Telico. Any thoughts on that?

Welll the rides are a few months apart and I will be going to both...
Where are you camping at GSMTR? You should camp with the misfit crew that I camped with last year. (mostly hippies with big trucks) haha...I am so friggin stoked for GSMTR. That and its a week long this year. This year I have no excuse but to wheel helocopter pad, guard rail and upper two. Trails I missed last year because of zonked steering parts. Oh man Oh man im gonna be sweating it on gaurd rail...at least on lower 2 if ya mess up ya just land on more rocks on gaurd rail you REALLY mess up.. either way it should be a blast...
As for CMCC...
thats in June I think....?????
Jer is taking his 60 and I'm taking Velveeta Wag all the way up to PA for CMCC (coal miner cruiser classic)...It would be awesome if you want to follow us up.. On this one it might be better to take the 80....unless you dont mind goes 65 for 986 miles in the 40
But on the other hand we are bring my brother back to florida with us and his SOA 40 on 36's sx's soo it wont be as bad as his ride
Let me know whats up either way...GSMTR is around the corner and fine tuning of Velveeta has started...hope to try out the new tricks at Alpha on the x-mas ride...

We usually camp off trail 5 since its centrally located and you can see cool rigs passing by. The main camp area sounds like fun but was sort of far away from the trail action.
Good point about the 40 and CMCC. I can't go 65 for even 9.86 miles! The 80 might be the way to go.

I think I'm up for GSMTR this year. I'm a newbie going, so I guess it's time for me to hit the archives and start gathering info.
Hopefully there will be another Ocala or Alpha run between Christmas and then.
That way I can pick you guys' brains while sitting around the campfire.

I have already scheduled the week off for GSMTR. I am stoked. It will be nice to actually go wheeling in tellico with Yota guys for once. Plus I will have both lockers in by then. It will make a big difference from my last attemp with open diffs.

Steve, put some sliders on the fry wagon and lockers and you will be lovin' it. Winch and bumpers wouldn't be a bad idea either. I also wouldn't suggest running Lower 2 on your second day there like someone else I know with a mango wagon.

Gsmtr 06
I'm with Al on this - totally stoked for GSMTR. Cannot wait. Just ordered the 30 spline longfields for my SO buildup. Broke 1 birf and 2 hub studs, cracked the frame, and bent the tie rod on Lower 2 this year getting over the big rock - but refused to take a winch and made it out in 3-wheel drive. Gonna hit it hard in 06 with the 4x4 labs high steer and the chromos. Totally totally totally stoked
I heard about Alpha - I couldn't make it so no biggie. I agreed with most of the posts you and Polk made - it's happened before - just let it cool off - it's too small a spot to get so much bandwidth.

Yall need to fit in the Razorback Ramble at the Superlift part in Hot Springs AR. Great park, facilities and wheeling! Last year was my first and I will be back. Hell, you might as well start the year off right at the Lonestar Roundup! Katemcy, TX ROCKS!!! If yall don't make it to that one I'll see yall at GSMTR.

Other Events
Man I've been wanting to do both those events. I lived in Northern Arkansas for 2 years as a kid and that's beautiful country - remember driving down to Hot Springs for the tourist stuff - and have seen pictures of that park - very nice. Eric Jones (brown FJ60 on 38's with roof cut off - daily driver) drove to the Texas run a few years back and said that wheeling on granite was sick - so much traction compared to Tellico. Anyways - how long is each event - I'd like to look at the dates, mileage to drive and start thinking about it in advance.
I either get 2 surf trips this year, and one trip to GSMTR, or 2 wheeling trips and 1 surf trip. Decisions decisions decisions.

Well I have the dates blocked off for the GSMTR. I am undecided on if I am going to drive the taco and camp, or tow it behind the motor home. I have always stayted at crawfords because the drive is not a big deal to me. I guess because I have never broke in tellico knock on wood. It seems that there is a big interest in people not staying at crawfords
It would be great if we could get an official nod in what the majority of Fl people are doing because I want to hang with the Fl crowd so ican get to know everyone.

I'm getting ready too. Put rear locker in yesterday, starting on sliders tomorrow.
Got a bigger capacity long range grease tank too for the ride up & back.
I'll be the guy driving down the road with a 50 gallon tank and ten jerry cans stacked on the roof rack.

Damn - Florida 60's May Rule...
See the related thread on the FLCA site. Todd R. says that both he and Eric J. are going to make it this year. Eric is famous for driving his open 60 everywhere - so I'd suggest dropping him a line and maybe you could run up together. Kinda stoked to see a SOA 60 (Al), Eric's radical open SUA 60, and a diesel/cooking oil 60 all from Florida. Sounds like another great TT article for Al to work on Now you just need to get the Polk 60 onboard and us little ole 40 drivers can sit on the sidelines on lower 2 and watch the carnage

Carnage is a must. I can't imagine a full week at tellico and nothing breaking
All the 60s on the trail would be fun. I hope we all hit the trails together for at least one day. I plan on wheeling 4,5 and 6 the first day and step it up as the days pass. If anyone wants to warm up and hit 4,5,6 let me know. I know my buddy is coming down from up north and either bringing his built 60 or his mammoth 45. Man im stoked.....drooool

Sweeeeeeet Will be stoked to see you there - want a better look at your 4-link setup.
Al - I'll run any trail at any time. Seems like I try and stuff 6 months worth of wheeling into one week. Will just be off a week in Costa Rica in April too
