I need another 40 to take on those trails. Too worried about damaging my "show cat" in the big rocks. Damn, no more room at the junk-yard for another rig though. I was getting some ideas for my wrecked 80 to go for the ultimate inspector gadget mobile. One day...

I ran slick rock 3 or 4 times last year - twice in the same day with 2 different groups. It was just really fun - first time I'd gotten to do it when it was really dry. The rock at the top of the chute was bitchen fun

You can run most of the trails with little fear of doing serious damage if you've got your winch gear drill down pat - if you see something that worries you about body damage - just set a line and winch. There's no need to have a big ego and get all rad and wreck something. There's ton's of nice 40's that have been running all the trails for years, with minimal damage. It's just more fun to get on it - as last years pics of the Florida gang proves
I ran schoolbus super quick a few years back with a really nice couple from Mich. and the STCLA guy with the Jeep - and they both winched or suggested winching when it took more than a couple of tries on an obstacle. Except for days when everything just works well, that run has been one of my all time favorites - it was just a really kool day. Of course, there's also the first time I made lower 2 without winching or stopping to repair, and barely made the last 200' with a busted birf, bent tie rod, busted hub studs, and a cracked frame

Hey guys, from the DC area it takes us 10-11 hours to get down south to GSMTR runnning on 81S.
From DC, it takes us 3 hours or so up north to CMCC in Hazelton, PA held in Paragon Adventure Park. If you're going straight up 95N from FL, it'll be somewhat different. I know it takes me 19-20 hours to hit Daytona from DC on 95S and that was on a bike hauling a**.

Sputnik, thats a good point about the winching. I see most damage when people are, well, doing what you like to do.. I think I'll be in the 80 so can't test the theory this year. One of these days maybe Santa will bring me a big hauling truck and drive-on trailer.
BTW, I don't think we're going to hit Paragon as part of this trip. May just do some exploring in Pisgah before or after Tellico. Started to look like a LOT of driving and little time to stop and smell the mud.

Pisgah???
What might you be planning for Pisgah? My first trip to GSMTR in the late 90's - my best friend Dave and I ran trail 1 several mornings in a row and then the hour over to Tsali to bike the trails - was a bombing trip trying to do so much, but that was before the wheeling bug really bit. Anyways - if it's to bike, let me know - I rebuilt my Yeti built Schwinn Homegrown Factory Sweet Spot last year, and have yet to do any trails in Ga or NC. Man I miss it - Tsali, Delonega, 21 mile death march/Bear Creek over at Elijay, etc. etc. Would be kool...
Agree about too much driving - it can really suck - and wears you down quick.

Its a pretty lose plan but the idea is to do some exploring and camping out. The bikes we'll have are motorcycles... if you can call an XR100 a motorcycle!
