Blackwater Exploration 4/25/09

A few guys from Pcola4x4 are going out to Blackwater to Explore some new areas, we are meeting at around 10a.m. at the Whataburger in Milton. Anyone is welcomed to come, if anyone needs directions or anything let me know.
Here is a map of 8 or so areas of interest, you may need to zoom out a bit to see all of them.

I'm a new cruiserhead over on the coast of MS and might be interested in joining up on Sat. What's the terrain like? I've got a '90 FJ62 fairly modded (OME 33s...) What's the time frame for the ride? Any primitive camping in the area?

its mainly just exploring a few new areas, we are meeting up at 10am and probabaly riding until 4 or 5pm because some of us have to be back in time for the pensacoal4x4club meeting in Milton at 5:30pm. Terrain wise...you have a Land Cruiser...youll be fine its mainly dry bumpy roads with some articulate trails and some good hill climbs and water crossings, these are new areas we are going to but most of the terrain is the same. Also if we dont get to any real challenging areas then dont let it put a bad taste in your mouth about this area because there is always Eglin AFB (we will be having a ride there next month). Im sure there are areas to camp but im not that familiar with Blackwater, ive heard people talk of their primitive camp grounds before just dont know any specifics.

EDIT I think I reconize your rig, was it for sale on this forum?

Not sure if I'll be able to make it or not. Yep, I got the 62 from Gappy in Indiana. Traded him my '01 VW Jetta TDI for it. I couldn't be happier! We'll see what happens this weekend. I'll have to check back about the Eglin I'd like to plan on that!
