88 fj62 Transfer Case

I tried goin a week w/o a new thread, i swear...

anyhow, as chuck is always making his 40 more like a yoda star wars cruiser, i need another fj62 part. As guessed by the title, the transfercase. Really, just part of it. but at this point, i'll take the whole thing.
The gear and C/Arm connected to the front drive pinion have jammed in place due to my ignorance and i've found some metal shavings, so guessing something in there isnt happy.

I got the rear main replaced, old tranny removed, split the tcase and started installing it on my "new" (thanks al!) a440f when i decided to get torque crazy with the 1/2" driver and force the case. crappy thing is i've done this before! Not breaking it, but installing it.
oh well, holla

Is the 62 case the same as a 60? I've got one out of the 85 FJ60 that I just got from Todd B. Planning on visiting Orlando sometime in Jan.

Did you check with Luis or the Dixons - being as how they have a few 60's you might want to call them. Don't think they post here too often.

Now I know what you don't have . On another note - are you running FJ40 or FJ60 knuckles with your 4x4 labs arms? I'm upgrading to the 60 knuckles for the strength - and was wanting to verify that all the 40 brake stuff fit right on. I'm not running backing plates - so that's not an issue.

Highjack on...

Knuckles are from a '79 pickup, installed when I swapped to front disk about 15 years ago.

Sputnik: My 76 disk brake stuff bolted right up to my 60 knuckles, you only have to work the tie rod/drag link stuff out.

TTT (ahem, I mean hijack - sorry). Thanks Bret!

Let me know if you find out the case is the same or different - can't imagine why they'd engineer a whole new case when they new they were going to only run the 62's for 3 years...
