Bumper receiver mount

Here's the almost finished product. Now for the accessories. Most of this was done with argon/co2 gas but a section of the rear where clearance was tight had to use flux core to fit the gun in. I hope to never have to use that mess again.

Chuck, Looks great! What kind of accessories do you have planned for it?
I know you already have a winch, but I could see it being used for a slide in removable winch mount.

you gonna paint it, or will the finish match your roll cage??

Chuck,

Make another setup for the rear bumper. Then install some vertical hydraulic rams with heavy duty castors on the bottom ends. You can then lift yourself up off of being high-centered. If you make them pivot and articulate, you can prolly make your truck walk.

Keep up the good work, Young Frankenstein.

too funny Jim. ..or is it genius? I like the ideas! I'm thinking of a front brush guard with mount for GenEdge2000 and some form of elevated deck for more crap and maybe eventually tying it into a way to access rear roll cage via hood traversing lattice and then deck out a portion of cage top for gear and such. Steve, right on with the winch mount idea. Maybe a rear system could fit the winch. Paint, who needs it when wd40 is so plentiful.
Alright here's a sneak preview of the GE2. Bill if you're working for china that's not cool!

What RPM does that motor run at? Most alternators need a couple thousand RPM's to get decent output. Or perhaps you've already re-wound it!! Be curious to see where it all ends up.

Well I ran into an issue when the bandsaw stopped bandsawing and it kept throwing blades. After days of replacing blades and screwing around with it I realized the drive wheel was spinning inside of the friction belt so now that's on order and will take a week to get here. Here are some design angles that I was considering for how the front will plug into the receivers. It was a battle between low profile and strength. Here's a strange but true encounter... I was cutting up these pieces and after several cuts I took the larger piece outside to shake out the dust and a four foot black snake came flying out! Houdini the snake managed to avoid getting sliced during the multiple cuts while hiding out in the tube. Crazy! I think he hexed my saw though! About the generator, I put a larger drive pulley on the edger to increase RPMs on the alternator pulley. According to the initial tests it appears to spin fast enough to do the job and put a good charge on a super dead battery. I think the edger was running around 600 rpm at idle (per my manual count) and I need to crank it up just a bit to handle the alt load. I plan to cage in the drive belt and make some other mods to the get-up.

You should be able to find a output curve for your alternator, that will give you the RPM that you need for maximum output. I have a tachometer that you can put on the alternator armature to see what the RPM's actually are. I have an old generator motor that still runs (the generator half melted) if you'd like it your welcome to it. It should have a bit more steam than the edger. Good luck regardless of the way you go about it.

Crazy on the snake thing! I'd still be cleaning out my shorts...

Is the tach for the alternator a special one for getting rpm from the alt? If you go to FL4WD campout maybe we can test it out. Oh so tempting to haul more stuff back to my junkyard. Is your generator motor a big or small one?

Its a smaller one, but definately bigger than the edger. The tach is a photo-tach, it can get a RPM off almost anything. Good luck on hauling the junk around.

make it walk chuck

if anyone's 40...or other crusier for that matter...could walk, it'd be yours chuck. Make some "spider legs" that fold down to the sides to lift it up and use hydraulic motors to power em...then convert that 350 to liquid nitrogen and not only will the hydraulics never burn up, you'll have infinite HP and save $$$ on fuel!
go for it...connect four!

If you get the liquid nitrogen to combust patent the process, all I've ever got it to do was to freeze bugs and flowers. It can displace a good bit of oxygen though, maybe it could be used like a really cold steam engine. Where it's insane hot in Florida it might work.

Chuck: if you want that motor I'll be driving up towards Daytona tomorrow morning. Give a yell or post up.

you got it

using it as a really cold steam engine is exactly right!
My brother is an engineer for a cryogenic citrus plant in Lake Hamilton and they build machines to freeze the vesicles of citrus with liquid nitrogen.
The master engineer there, Mark Thomas, actually invented this process and they are experimenting with a vehicle (for now gocart) using this method and hydraulic motors at each wheel for a drivetrain. No tranny, and a very small, safe, ultra durable "motor/engine."

Liquid nitrogen can't combust as petroleums do, so then no one would have to worry about any cars catching on fire, overheating, or any type of cooling system on the vehicle! no radiator, or nothing. Plus, the AC would work better then any state of the art refridgeration available in any appliance or device today.

It's a great plan and idea, but I don't wanna "release" to much of their awesome innovation for fear of the citrus mafia tracking me down.

did i mention liquid nitrogen as a "fuel" may cost more than gas, but would be 20 times more efficient? If $50 of gas gets you 600 miles, then the same amount ($$$) of L.nitro in this application would net you over 12,000 miles.

Neat idea, it takes a few out of the box ideas to create a little innovation. Would be neat to see.

Bret, thanks for the offer on the engine. Is this a briggs or do you know?

Is the energy from l.nitro obtained when it turns to a gaseous state, ie, expanding and therefore able to drive a piston or turbine..?

Happy New Year!

ahh. fascinating. This just might do the trick for the GenEdge3000. Is this still attached to the generator? I'm wondering about how large the assembly is.

bingo

I know of 2 ways that it can react to drive a "motor", the first being exactly what you mentioned and the second top secret! actually , i don't know even, but the engineer explained to me that liquid nitrogen can be harnessed in a way never thought possible to transform energy (create is such a bad word, seeing how the same amount of energy exists perpetually, so i apologize now for my misreference.)

Its more efficient and a 100X safer since there isn't any combustion. Bad ass idea if they get of their buts and make it happen.
