FJ55 engine models and hoods fitment
Hi,
I wanted to confirm that an early hood will not fit a 2f engine in a 1970 FJ55? It hits the stock air cleaner? A friend told me this and I was hoping the early hood I have would fit as it is in perfect shape. Any help appreciated and if anyone has a non rusted later model hood for an FJ55 with the raised section please pm me, I am in the san diego area.

I have a 78 55 with the early model hood. There is minor rubbing of the undercoating, however not enough to go though the paint. I am not aware if there is a height difference in a earlier 55. Hope this helps.

The early year hood just needs the early-style air cleaner, I think. Don't quote me on that.

That looks like an early/pre-hump type hood.

Here is a later hood with the slight hump in the center to clear the 2F air cleaner/carb.

OK, to clarify, my question is: will the early style hood (flat w/no raised area) fit with a 2f engine??
Was looking for opinions on this, maybe anyone whom has a 2f and an early hood, how did you get the air cleaner assembly to fit?? what air cleaner ass did you use??

My Pig came with a 2F, but I think that the F air cleaner was used. I have the assy if you want it. I don't need it any longer. It needs a cleaning and some paint.
